FROM A GOOD SOURCE IN MY CASE A SONY WALKMAN A306 This pair is amazing
These earphones are amazing from a good source, but plugged into a phone without a dac or a computer without an audio interface or dac they are not very forgiving. This pair however represents amazing value if you like listening to hi res music from a good source - heck it even somehow makes mp3's sound great ( some kind of AI does it). Yep get these , they for me represent much better value than the 3's(only 30 or so quid cheaper for a much inferior product) or the 5's with all the hassle of switching between warm or bright plastic bits. EQ does that on your player.. The bass is punchy, the highs are sublime and not pirceing , the mids are great . I have heard some say they are a bit muddy, Nah.. They are the best headphones I have ever owned, and i have had much more expensive , oh and the white tips are the best tips ever for me, they secure all the music in your ears. if you push on the earbud you don't get any extra sound or bass.. that is a first for me.

Awesome. Simple.
I love Shure headphones/earphones so may be a bit biased here. Nice trademark slightly warm signature but still clear as a crystal ball, superbly detailed, floaty highs, great mids, nice amount of bass. They sound like my Shure SRH1540s inside my ears. Completely immersive, superb separation on the instruments and nothing is competing with each other. They sound like being wrapped in a cotton wool ball of audio greatness. People say they are overpriced, for £215 with this sound quality and comfort they are not. Class leading for the price imo. Only down side is the Inline remote sits in a rather annoying position, but I will be getting a new balanced cable anyway. Sod blutooth, beats and airpods. Wired sound from a stalwart of audio technology is still the way fo.r me! On to the aonic 5s next me thinks.

The finest and most enjoyable in-ear I've ever tried (edit: up to 2022)
First things first: I'm assuming that if you are shopping for relatively expensive wired IEMs, then you care about audio clarity and detail to the point you are not happy with what you currently get from far more convenient wireless offerings. You want something to listen to lossless audio with on the go. If that is the case, I believe you can safely discard the "no bass" claims from other reviews, they are likely due to inadequate seal and/or being compared to bass heavy headphones. As other Shure IEMs, they come with a pair of each tip, they affect the sound substantially, and you should experiment to find out what works best for you. For most people that would be the medium black "olive" foam tips, the ones that are mounted out of the box. It might be tricky. Having owned Shure for some years, I've noticed for instance that the medium foam tips can actually vary in size from sample to sample, to the point I don't get a good seal with a particular tip, be aware of that. You will know when you get a good seal.Once that is out of the way, they sound quite amazing. Bass is enjoyable and punchy, with just the right amount of resonance. Mids have trademark Shure detail. Treble sounds somewhat recessed when comparing to the SE535, but not the point that they sound muffled. This actually prevents them from being fatiguing over long listening sessions. I think the way these are balanced is the sweet spot between detail and comfort/fatigue.But, for me, the most distinctive thing about the Aonic 4 and what makes them really enjoyable is how the sound is presented. The mids and highs somehow float above the lows, creating an open soundstage with a big deal of separation. It sounds way closer to what you would listen from room speakers. All in all, these are definitely becoming my portable daily drivers and I whole heartedly recommend them. £200+ for me is still a whole lot of money to throw at a tiny pair of IEMs, but I can see many hours of joy ahead.EDIT: while I still think these are great, the industry has moved on, and exceptional stuff like 7Hz Timeless AE or Moondrop Blessing 2 exists, so in good conscience I had to drop a star. The build quality on these is top notch, as is the passive sound isolation, but sound quality is not the best for the price point.

Fantastic Sound for Acoustic - best enjoyed wired
(NB: reviewed these with the EAC46 cable - not the cable which is supplied). I bought these to replace my old SE425s… for those familiar, the sound on the Aonic 4 is very similar with a beautiful immersive sound stage. Highs and Mids are the real star here, but Shure, to my ears atleast, have also listened to previous criticisms of the 425s regarding the Bass, which is much more present (although, probably not enough to please those that want the Bass front and centre). Note, for those that have criticised the Bass on other reviews.. make sure the speakers have bedded in and that the earbuds you choose have a proper seal (the black foam tips are best here), if you’re having trouble, try sizing up the tip. The Aonic 4s are also a lot more comfortable than the 425s.. These are definitely IEMs for those that are on the acoustic/rock end. Those to the rnb/hip-hop, EDM end, will likely want some more lower end.One final note, I have tested these wired and also with the Shure True Wireless adapters. Whilst these adapters do a good job of recreating the wired sound, they are woefully under-powered. I would say the max volume on the wireless is about 60% of the wired output. Plus, the one-side only speaker for phone calls is a bit annoying. If you absolutely want wireless, I would look elsewhere until Shure can get this right

Amazing Earbuds!
I've never been a fan of earbuds but these blow me away! Not only do they have really excellent noise isolation, but they actually beat various noise canceling headphones that I tried. The sound of these things are absolutely phenomenal! They're so beautifully balanced. Wonderful highs and a really nice bass and a great even mid-range. These are an absolute sonic pleasure!I tried the Bluetooth version of these but they wouldn't seat in my ear properly and seal which kind of wrecks the bass. I think a lot of that depends on the shape of your ear and ear canal so that might not be an issue if you wanted Bluetooth... but I will say that the wired version gives a superb quality of sound. The yellow foam surrounds that they supply are my favorite. They're very comfortable and excellent in isolating noise. They also provide the best sound in my opinion. But if those aren't to your liking they do provide a number of other options that you can try.If you want a high degree of sound isolation while providing an excellent quality of sound I would say these would be very very hard to beat.

Molto buone
