CastrolSyntrax Long Life 75W-90 Differential Fluid

The Colorado and Canyon use an Eaton G80 limited slip rear end which specifies "normal" GL-5 spec fluid that does not have limited slip additives. Many if not most of the fluids available are "limited slip". Using them won't damage a G80 rear end, but they will disable it's ability to lock, keeping the G80 in open differential mode. I mistakenly used Mobil 1 "LS" fluid and this happened. Drained the Mobil 1 and put this Castrol in, all good again.

This is not the same as the standard Castrol Syntrax 75W-90 gear lube that's available in most auto stores. This "Long Life" version is blended to different specifications and has different low temp/high temp and overall viscosity index ratings. While standard 75W-90 lubes may work, this has almost identical specs to BMW's own differential lubes, does _not_ include any limited-slip additives or modifiers (which the BMW lubes also do not have), and is bottle-marked as being approved for servicing non-limited slip BMW diffs. It's harder to find and costs a little more that the in-store lubes, but why take the chance on "should be good enough"?

I am very skeptical. The bottle came with another label glued over the original barcode. The oil seems very thin compared to other 75w90 synthetic I have. I am skeptical of the bottle I received.

Bought this 75w90 for the rear differential in a Mercedes C300 W204. Manual says it takes 1.1 liters so picked up 2 bottles.Filling the differential was easy with the pull up spout these bottles have, there's just enough room to tilt the spout into the fill hole and hold the bottle up in the subframe. It's not high enough to completely empty the bottle so I switched to the other bottle to add enough oil until it was coming out the fill hole. For the low cost of oil it's worth changing out every couple of years.

Castrol - Syntrax Long Life 75W-90 Differential Fluid. Got it to use in my mobility scooter axle.

I only use Castrol oil for my engines and figured it is good enough for diff too.

Its a recommended oil by manufacturer which can't be usually replaced with something else unless expert in the area. Happy with it as the car did not complaint more than a month now.

Beim nächsten Mal werde ich wieder dort bestellen.Dieses synthetische Castrol Getriebeöle 75W-90 nach API GL-5-Spezifikation setze ich schon seit über 20 Jahren im Differentialgetriebe meines BMW ein. Das Getriebe hat eine Laufleistung von fast 300.000 km und ich habe bisher weder irgendeinen erkennbaren Verschleiß noch irgendwelche Geräusche festgestellt., was sicherlich auch für die hohe Qualität des Getriebeöls spricht.
