Sharp, fast and a cut above for build quality
Most of the Samyang and Rokinon lenses have serious concessions around build quality, this lens is on their upper end. The lens hood is sturdy, the barrel of the lens is solid and the overall lens is actually quite large in the hand - specifically long.Images are crisp, even wide open - though not on the level with premium glass until stopped down to f4, but still quite good wide open - and if shooting that wide open, you're probably trying to blur your corners anyway. The AF is actually pretty decent, and silent when shooting video - which is really good.At f8-16, you can use it in studio without terrible diffraction.Cons:-Build is heavy, but lacks sealing or solid components-Focus ring is on the wire, and seems to change rate based on the speed with which you turn the ring - faster turns make faster adjustments - which messes with my head when trying to manually focus - making it actually near impossible to rack focus predictably.

It’s got the Zeiss pop & sharpness
I bought this lens thinking that i’ll Test it but likely return it & but the Zeiss 35 1.4 used for twice the cost. BUT this lens is killer! It’s super sharp at 1.4 (in the center but honestly who cares about the corners at 1.4) has massive subject separation (pop) and the auto is as fast at the sigma 35 1.4 I had been using with my Nikon D750. I just can’t find fault enough with this lens to justify the Zeiss at twice the price (used). The only glaring difference is the weather sealing and the focus ring on the Zeiss dampened really nicely.

Great Value for the price!
Overall a very solid lens well built with a nice weight. You shouldn't think of this lens as sharp as there sony or sigma counterpart but for a camera that's already very sharp, it's a nice balance to compliment more the skin and get a more cinema look.Of course, if sharpness is your goal, don't invest in this lens, it's more made to replicate the creamy looks of cinema/vintage lens. Does mean it inst sharp! Just not as much as a sony or sigma. The only complaint I have is that the autofocus is not super fast, I wouldn't call it slow but it's definitely noticeable but if you don't need ultra responsive response time, this should more then do it! (For example: perfect for an event in a restaurant with the wide opening but not best for quick sports action. Still doable)Overall, great price, great build and great value for a videographer and photographer that want an affordable cinema lens with autofocus as an extra.

Good lens for the price
I like the bokeh and the DOF it creates for portraits, it is afterall what i bought it for. It's fairly sharp. The only problem i have is that I use sony A7III and this lens sometimes disconnects from my camera. Sometimes when i open my cam to shoot, an error message that there is no lens connected. I have to take it out and put it back in for the connection to get recognized. It's a hassle sometimes but you get what you paid for.

Fantastic lens
This is a great lens if you truly can't afford the Sony/Zeiss $2000 model. Both literally shoot just as sharp, corners have slight vignetting, but nothing software can't resolve. Autofocus motor is a bit noisy, thus the 4 stars, but this is not a problem for me as I don't shoot video. A fantastic lens for those of us who want incredible bokeh without sacrificing the wallet.
