This is getting good. I like to learn about the characters, so getting to see where she got her apothecary skills from was so cute (her dad/pa). I look forward to the next one.

I really enjoyed reading the next book in this series. The story is so funny and so interesting. The characters are well made.

After MaoMao's hijinks at the Garden Banquet, she finds herself with the unique opportunity for a brief visit home to the Pleasure District where she was raised by her adoptive father (after making a bargain with a court member and potentially landing herself in biiiiig trouble with poor Sir Jinshi on her return, of course). Of course, there is never a dull moment if MaoMao is involved, and thus her reunion with her father and courtesan friends is also clouded with another mystery for her to solve.This volume gives us a little bit of a look into MaoMao's life before her indentured servitude, introduces us to some new characters, and shows us how unintentionally MaoMao has Jinshi wrapped around her finger, which is DELICIOUS. I think the way in which sex work is handled by this manga so far is refreshing - the tone of everything is pretty neutral and focuses on work as a means of elevation while also highlighting the power imbalances and risks versus reward it can also feature. The focus on women and women's experiences in this fictional world inspired by Imperial Court life is so addictive and manages to be lighthearted despite also featuring the harsh realities of a world in which some lives matter more than others and death and disease are all but a guarantee.

I watched the first three episodes of this series on Crunchyroll when it first released and have been obsessed ever since!!

The story is so interesting. It a lot more detective work then I thought but it makes it so interesting. I love the characters the plot has good amount of drama, comedy, and everything else in good proportions. Will be getting the rest of the series

Series is really good! Love the series and will keep up with it definitely! 10/10 recommend!
