Q: Is it normal for the motor to heat up after 2 hours of use? it’s hot to the touch. i’m concerned that this could cause a fire.

i don't think that is normal, you may have a defective one. mine does not get hot like that and it runs 24/7 in the basement and is not even warm to the touch

Q: Can this be used for outdoor? Safe?

I regularly use this fan outside, but not in wet areas or in the rain.

Plug has three prongs, 3rd being the ground.

I have no idea ? But I have never had to turn it all the way up !
