HUGE
This thing is huge. Way bigger than we needed but it's awesome and I will use it with my turkeys next month. Too big for meat birds. Super sturdy and heavy duty! A great product. We will definitely buy a smaller one but sticking with this brand for sure.

Quick delivery
I think this gone was made when I ordered it! It was clean, no sharp edges and big enough for my oversized duck. Oversized vines are hard to find and I was delighted with craftsmanship and price.

Big enough for Red Rangers, Cornish Cross, NOT for grown turkeys.
*GRAPHIC* Preferred this to broomsticking. Advice: it is big enough for a Red Ranger at 6-9lbs. A turkey will also fit, but I haven't tested it yet. Next batch of meat chickens will be Cornish Cross. They'll fit in this cone. Use a 4x4 post with a 2x4 cross piece to mount the cone. It has 3 mounting holes: 1 large center, 2 smaller on either side, all 3 across the flat back at the wide opening.Hold the bird upside-down by the feet to let gravity compress the lungs and calm the bird. Then insert bird, back to flat of cone/breast towards you. Hold the feet or it'll try to flip back upright in the cone. Have a partner guide/pull the head down thru the narrow opening. One person hold feet, other holds head and cuts neck, quickly thru carotid, jugular, and windpipe. Hold feet until dead and still - there will be muffled thrashing as it dies (takes a minute or two). This drains blood from the body by using the heart. REMEMBER you're doing this for your healthier food, not the chicken's health.***UPDATE*** 42lb (dressed) broad-breasted turkeys will NOT fit. Stopped at the shoulders. Wings were in, but no further. Also (estimating) the head wouldn't have fit out the bottom.Works great on chickens up to 15lbs, but had to go with the hatchet and stump for the turkeys.

Gets the job done.
I bought these for cornish cross which I typically butcher at 8 weeks. My husband and I butcher 30 birds at a time. We were having some problems with breaking wings and this was our attempt to prevent that from happening. Worked great. It works much easier with two people although it can be done by one. Like anything there is a learning curve and once we got past that things went quicker. We found putting them in breast to the flat side worked best for us. Very pleased that I chose the extra large. Most of the birds dressed out around 6-7lbs, I think these actually were at 9 weeks. I felt the hole in the bottom was an adequate size especially with two people. Like another reviewer said, this makes an unpleasant job easier. Would recommend and glad I made the purchase.

Disappointed
The metal is very very flimsy compared to the other small one, I received. It is very large to hold a turkey or goose. Just received have not tried it yet. Unsure how it will hold up when in use for poultry. If left on post for any length of time, I think wind will bend it.

XL cone is for large birds, like turkeys and geese.
This cone was a lot bigger than I expected, but will be perfect to use for our turkeys and muscovy ducks. Waaay too big for processing chickens.
