safe.
these make roof access easy and less stressful. If you strap the ladder to the soffit or fascia boards. Even an old 73 year old can climb up and over the top of the ladder with ease.

Wonderful peace of mind
I love these things! As I am getting older and afraid of heights (falling to my death) the ability to walk through instead of stepping over or around is a godsend!

Sending back due to incorrect hardware in the box
See the pic, unusable because 1 of the 4 carriage bolts is an oddball. Not only is it way longer but it’s too small of a diameter to thread into the knob, rendering the whole thing useless. At $150 for a few aluminum tubes they couldn’t even do a quality check of what goes in the box.

Great product - a bit expensive, and pays for itself many times over.
I added this to an old ladder and it works great. Without it I could not do some jobs, requiring that I hire people - which would cost many times more than this.

Worked on my Little Giant ladder but.....
What didn't quite work for me.--------------------------------I tried to use this product on my standard extension ladder but my ladder was too long and adding these rails meant opening the ladder an extra 2 feet. That extra length plus the weight of the rails made the ladder very unwieldy...too top heavy.I always try to access the roof at the lowest point. The added length also made it unworkable for my usual access point because the extra 2 feet of ladder was now above the gutter. There was no way to get from the ladder onto the roof. Flattening the ladder placement angle was too excessive to make that adjustment work.I was able to make it work at a higher access point, but it made me very nervous and the location was not above a solid placement point on the ground in my situation. What did work best for me--------------------------------I then tried it on my Little Giant ladder which is shorter than my extension ladder. In order to make it work I had to remove the ladder's outer section with wheels and attach the rails to the inner section. This limits the possible maximum extension length but I did not need the extra length for my situation. The shorter length also made the ladder much more manageable.Another factor people should consider is that the rails act as a leverage arm. If a lot of weight is placed on the ends as descending from the roof or climbing onto the roof it seems like the bottom of the ladder may kick out. I recommend some type of tie off from the bottom of the ladder to the building or to a ground anchor near the building. Finally, these rails have to be put on and removed each time roof access is required with the ladder of choice. Storing the ladder with the rails attached seems impractical to me.

Great Help
The product is well made and fastens securely. My ladder was not made so that additions could be put on. That said this form does secure on it because of the manner in which it fits. My ladder has steps over the rails not between and still the clamps abut the steps for strongest support. I had to go down one step due to angle braces, but the rails are still plenty long to pull up on. I suggest it may be able to be used on different types/style of extension ladders.I have now used Tie Down and love it. Fasted securely, is high enough to help me up and onto the roof and light enough for even me to raise the ladder with Tie Down on the top of it!
