Niche product, not for everyone.
The original Linkbuds by Sony isn't everyone's cup of tea. The impeccable sound and the donut form factor allowing unadulterated transperancy to the outside world is a combination that impresses anyone using them. Battery lasts seemingly forever, the buds are so light that I find myself forgetting that I have them on. The app is decent too.Recommended to spend initial few days to figure out the ideal fit and position. The first hook I was using was a bit small, and the buds kept falling out. Then I went a size higher, now they fit snugly and sit flush at the surface of my ear.The form factor does come with obvious lack of punch due to physical constraints of the design, thus deterring a lot of prospective tws shoppers. But, this is not for them. There's Linkbuds S for that. Do not get confused by either as they are polar opposites of each other.

Starts getting distorted within a week
It's been almost 8 days since I'm using it regularly and it has started making that krr krr sound whenever playing general music (not heavy bass, Taylor Swift was never heavy on bass) and i get frequent krr krr sound and at times the sound or crackling for long periods. Not suggested for gym use because it's not very loud and you don't want to listen to Indian gym playlist with your music.Overall I would NOT suggest this it's genuinely a waste of 12,000 bucks and their return/replace policy expires like within 7 days and 2 days later you'll start experiencing crackling sounds. To be brutally honest these are cheap earphones and boat headphones or OnePlus which come at a fraction of a cost are better than this.Plus the gesture control on this is just downright pathetic like you have to adjust it every 2 min as it's always kinda lose and when you adjust it somehow changes the playlist skips 3 tracks and transports to a whole different concert of music

Weird but very good
This is my second pair of unique TWS earbuds after Galaxy buds live. I bought these for listening while daily commuting to office in train/ bus as these let in the surrounding noise during my daily journey. These are a difficult pair of earbuds to get a correct fit and one must ensure that perfect and secure fit indoors before trying it out outdoor as they will surely fall from the ears without a secure fit and may easily get lost. I had to do quite a bit of experiment with the supplied 5 pairs of synthetic loop and ultimately settled for the LARGE sized one. Sony should have done some more experiment for a more secure fit. However, I have seen many YouTube videos where most people are satisfied with the fit, it might be my unique ear shape which makes it difficult. The size of the buds and the case are quite small and light and didn’t cause any sort of pain after continuous listening for around 90 minutes.Regarding Sound quality (music playing) - it is quite good keeping in view of their unique form factor but they lack a bit of bass and sub-bass. Mids are quite good. Treble is very good and to some extent airy also but not ear piercing. The sound signature can be selected with built in equalisation modes or can also be customised with the 5 band basic equaliser available in the app (both for iOS and Android). Anyways, the sound can’t be compared with a high end good sounding (audiophile grade) TWS pair. The USP is I can now easily listen to others and participate in casual chats while listening to music - thanks to the central hole. The max volume is quite loud and at par with my other TWS, if not better. The call quality is excellent both at the caller and the receiver end although it needs to be tested in various noisy environments before coming to a final conclusion. It does not support ANC. Very obvious as it is designed to let in noise and not to cancel noise. The finish of the case and the earbuds are of top quality- no doubt about that. With the latest software update this got a MULTIPOINT connectivity which is great as it was not advertised earlier and I never expected this feature. Multipoint works fantastic. I use it with my Samsung S22 and iPhone 12 mini for multipoint. There are good number of features through the app which I will be experimenting with in future. The TWS pair is weird and unique and keeping in mind the purpose for which it was developed, it is very good. The price which I paid for this is Rs.7990.00 (after all discounts etc during Republic Day sale against an MRP of Rs.19990.00), makes it an excellent and cost effective purchase for me.A padded carrying pouch should have been provided in the package to protect the set.One more negative aspect is, if the correct size of rubber loop gets damaged during use it will be difficult to use the TWS as those proprietary rubber loops are not available separately either from Sony or third parties.Edit: After three days of usage I have to say that getting perfect fit by selecting the perfect sized loop takes lot of time and experiment. I again shifted from Large to Medium. It seems I have to use different sizes for different ears. Reduced a star for this inconvenience.

Open ear buds specifically designed to keep one aware of ambient noise
I have Apple airpods pro, Samsung galaxy buds live and now have these Sony link buds.To be frank, I had low expectations from these buds since they are open ear buds. They don’t seal the ear canals.I wanted these for using outdoor while walking or cycling, just to be aware of the surroundings.Because airpods pro completely seal the ears and to some extent galaxy buds live also blocks the ear.I am not fan of transparency mode as well. So was badly looking for open buds. My other idea was to purchase bone conduction headphones for outdoor activities, but somehow did not like the way they sounded. They sound hollow and tinny. So I decided to purchase Sony linkbuds. Honestly speaking they exceeded my expectations. Some reviewers have complained about low bass. But if you are a true music lover and enjoy every high and lows, these buds are way to go.Music fidelity is close to excellent. Sound stage is good as well, since this is open ear. Once you install Sony app, you can play with equalisers to find the perfect settings for you.I would say that Sony has tried to closely match the reproduction quality of Apple airpods pro, except that they are open ear.And one more thing I tried to use them for office calls, works great with MS teams. Mic has good pick up.And they don,t give ear fatigue or itchy ears even if you wear them too long. They are very comfortable to wear for hours. They are very close to Apple airpods pro in sound quality but not entirely, but again they are much ahead of Samsung galaxy buds live.Go for it if you have money and care real music quality. But if you are just bass head, settle down with cheaper unbranded buds, because most of them are tuned for heavy bass.Edit on Jan14-2023After using for more than a month, I am loving it more than other buds I have. They sound more natural and real than Airpods Pro and Galaxy buds I have. Sony has done a good job.
