Another excellent myth busting book
Great to see the world of samurai and ninja put into their real environment and not romantised as often happens. Excellent book for personal study and research on this era of Japanese history.

Excellent read
Antony Cummins does it yet again by ripping away at the myths of the ninja and samurai.

Well worth owning.
I really like this book. It has lots of material in it that you just will not find any place else. It also has en entire ninja manual in it.

A lot of research
Well researched for the mature martial artist or those who do not practice anymore. He covers some stuff from the koka side or at least I've never seen anyone talk or teach about some of the kuji things before. Here the author shows Fukushima. Some things are well illustrated regarding the samurai and the different types and I'm sure anyone with a keen interest in the samurai will learn somthing. Depending on how well you are versed in the historical ninja you may not always agree with the author but without doubt some excellent research has been put together. I would again say this is for the mature martial artist and a great deal of research is being made available for the first time in English with some teachings that few westerners would have been taught. A good effort.

Not that grear
Started off as an interesting read . Then got boring very quickly.I’d like to go back and finish the book but it’s on the bookshelf gathering dust.It doesn’t have that “won’t put it down” , so I guess it’s a reasonable purchase for anyone that thinks they want to be a ninja or wondered what a samurai is
