Absolutely brilliant pans
I've deliberated over getting cast iron pans for a while. Especially as I'm a bit of a bugger for putting the frying pan in the oven to bake something in it. Inevitably the handle snaps. So I bought this set, I've had them about 3 weeks now and used them every day since on my induction hob. Follow the instructions before using, they do stink the first hour they are in the oven, but its worth it, and honestly they are brilliant. Nothing has burned or stuck. I've made risottos, cooked steaks, eggs, casseroles, tarte tatin. Fab!! They feel rough but they aren't a problem on the hob and don't scratch (my hob is well used so I'm not too precious). They don't taint the taste of food. I just make sure I wash with a sponge scourer and dry well by hand after use, spray them with some oil and stack them with pieces kitchen roll in between them. Price is amazing for such good pans and delivery was spot on. One happy cook, glad I bought them!! I did order some silicone handles as well, as they do get hot.

Good solid pans at a very inexpensive price - would recommend them.
Fed up with non-stick pans that don't stay non-stick - and slightly worried about the issue with reports of chemicals leeching into food from some non-stick coatings - I decided to try cast iron skillets instead.I read several blogs online about how to season and care for cast iron, and must admit that the instructions that came with the pans are rather sketchy (hence only giving 4 stars instead of 5).All of the blogs advised spending time seasoning the pans before use even though they are advertised as pre-seasoned. Seasoning took a couple of days - I gave them 4 sessions in a hot oven coated in coconut oil - and it smelled strongly of burning, but once that was done they appeared to have developed the black shiny coating that helps make them non-stick.I have only used them twice so far - cooking sausages and gammon steaks - but both times the food cooked without sticking. The pans cleaned up more easily than expected afterwards with a scrub in ordinary washing-up liquid. The instructions tell you to re-season after each use, which takes an hour!! I've heated them on a gas ring for a couple of minutes and rubbed over with olive oil, then left to cool and that seems to be all they need to build up the non-stick surface.Be aware the handles get very hot! You can buy silicone heat-resistant handle covers to save your fingers. The pans also looked a bit small when they arrived, but I've been pleasantly surprised how much will fit in and I think they will be ideal. So far would recommend to anyone willing to put in the bit of effort they require.

Nice heavy set of pans I bought for my daughter for B12 deficiency. This was cheaper than an iron fish and you get 3 pans.

Unbranded skillets - will not buy again.
June 2019 purchaseOriginal Rating: 5 StarsOriginal Headline: Excellent skillets - great value for moneyI seasoned them a few more times before first use, just to be sure. So far we have used the 10" for fried breakfasts, the 8" for single cheese omelets and the 6" for single fried eggs. Lovely to use and definitely no sticking of the eggs to the cast iron. Thoroughly recommended skillets. Would buy again.May 2021 purchaseWell I did indeed buy the VonShef Cast Iron Skillet Pan Set 3 Piece again as a gift.I purchased from DOMU Uk which actually own the VonShef brand so should have been fine but....I was sent unbranded skillets and are nothing like the previous quality of the VonShef cast iron skillet pan set that I purchased about 3 years ago. The ones that I had previously purchased arrived well packed in custom moulded polystyrene to fit each pan and were cast with the VonShef brand on the underside of each skillet. These latest skillets arrived only wrapped in bubble wrap inside an unbranded box and are just generic cast iron skillets with no branding whatsoever. The 8" skillet is more like 7.75" and the handle on this skillet is longer than the handle on both the 6" and the 10" skillets which makes it look odd and not a matching set. The pans are lighter than the ones I purchased previously with the weights being 6" skillet - 675g, 7.75" skillet - 1070g and the 10" skillet - 1870g.These were supposed to be a gift for my daughter so I am immensely disappointed. I would return them but don't want to get stung for the postage.New Rating: 1 StarNew Headline: Unbranded skillets - will not buy again.
