A very good tool
This is just as good as the expensive one, does the job and cuts well.

Great addition to the toolbox for occasional use.
Used to relocate a couple of network sockets in our office building. The tool includes a hook which is great for disconnecting the wires from the socket and a flat blade which I think is designed for use on the socket facia screws. Whilst the hook is perfect for the job, the flat blade is too flimsy and was not strong enough to remove / install the socket facia screws. The push down and termination part of the tool did the job well, cutting off the excess cable automatically and pushing down the cables securely into the socket. Ideal for occasional use on telephone cables and network cables, but I don't think it would last long if it was being used professionally. Overall it is a great addition to my toolbox for occasional use.

Cheap but nice!
Excellent tool for the price. It's spring loaded, so just press the tool onto the wire insulation laid across the socket you are fitting the wire into and when it reaches the correct level of depression then the hammer is released with a satisfactory "clunk" and the wire is punched into the little blades inside the socket, which penetrate the wire insulation and hold and make the electrical contact. You'll know which way round it goes as it only seems to work the one way. Just press lightly and you'll find there's one way it definitely DOESN'T work - so just flip the tool around, try it lightly again and this time you should feel it starting to penetrate the socket jaws.I've just used it to fit a new filtered faceplate to my old BT phone master-socket so I've now got separate phone and ADSL broadband sockets. It's the first time I've used this system and it's nice NOT having to remove the insulation from the wires before doing the connection.p.s. I found the best way to open the little hook and screwdriver attachment on each side of the body was to push a broadish flat-bladed screwdriver into the loops and twist till the arms pop out - though you probably won't need to use the the things.I got the wires out of the old faceplate socket by pulling them out carefully with some needle nosed pliers, with the hope that I could use the old socket again if necessary.

Good value
I work in the cable industry and bought this as a backup for my company issued krone tool, it does do the job ok and if you only need to use it occasionally then you should have no issues however as my company issued one ended up rusting to the point that it no longer worked at all (due to the rain) I was having to use this more regularly. It does still work and has been very useful as a backup but I have noticed over time that it has become more stiff with regular use when inserting cables to the point that it tends to slow me down more than it should. I have since had my company issued krone tool replaced and the difference is clear. In summary, you get what you pay for with this tool, if you just need to use it on a few jobs around home or occasionally then this should be more than sufficient but for anything more regular/long term you might want to spend a little more and get one of the better quality options.

Better than a blade
If this is what you need then this is the tool for it. Pushes the wire in perfectly and doesn’t damage the connection blades.

Not the cheapest but worth the extra cost
I have only connected two wires with this tool but it has already paid for itself. Although cheaper tools are available, I recommend this one as it exerts a standard force on the wires, avoiding excessive strain and guaranteeing correct positioning. I had never used one of these before but it was easy to get the hang of and worked first time.Save yourself an engineer's visit and wire up your own sockets.
