These basswood blocks are excellent, consistently sized and exactly 6x2x2 inch. They are well finished and smooth and carve very nicely. Overall this is a easy to use carving block that is well finished and a great deal!

Excellent carving wood, and at a great price.

This little carving blocks were perfect for what I needed them for. Good started blocks for learning how to carve.

Eight pieces of 2x2x6 for 20 dollars is equivalent to 4 pieces of 2x2x12 at 5 each. This is more expensive than the 3$ each from another source. If you have AMAZON PRIME AND FREE SHIPPING then the final cost is comparible to the other pieces after shipping is included.The biggest difference is shipping times. Amazon has it in a couple of days, while others can be a week and a half. Depending on your need this wood can be a good alternative.Now the wood itself. All the pieces were clear, knot free, and light yellow in color. The softest basswoods are white in color. The more yellow the wood the harder ihey seem to be. These blocks were not the softest but they were still relatively easy carving. This is based on using two of the 8 blocks so far.

This wood is way harder than basswood should be. Probably been sitting in a warehouse for too long. For the price I expected better.Only buy these if you have decent tools and want to workout your hands.

Decent wood for whittling and at a reasonable price.

These are perfect for simple carving whether you are just learning or for practicing an idea before using a harder more expensive type of wood. Caution and proper safety needs to be taken or one could quickly need some stitches!

It's wood, what else can you say about it.I got this so I could carve a few small figurines.So far so good.
