Excellent!
I bought this card after careful googling, to replace the Centrino 2230 WiFi card in my HP dv6 laptop. I found many warnings that there might be a whitelist in the machine's BIOS that would preclude the use of any card not listed in the service manual (this one isn't), however I found several reputable looking threads that said it ought to work. I decided to give it a go anyway because the existing card was slow and seemingly was not working properly (multiple dropped packets).Installation was very easy - open the access cover on the back of the machine, disconnect the antennae from the old card, remove the screw, remove the card, slot in the new one, screw it down, and clip back the antennae.Everything works perfectly. No issues on boot, and my Linux Mint operating system immediately recognised the new card and offered to connect to the 5 GHz band which was not previously available. Now I have reliable WiFi at twice the previous speed! Very satisfied!

One of the best HMC cards out there
I bought this as an upgrade to an old laptop, after some research I found this is one of the best HMC wireless cards out there, before the m.2 standards came in - at a good proce too. As an upgrade from the entry level card I had the difference is noticeable. Installation was easy (assuming you can get access to your laptop motherboard), 1 or 2 screws and swapping over the connectors for signal and you're good to go. Assuming the bios allows the change (mine did - dell inspiron 15z, others may not) theres no software setup required, its just picked up on next boot. The Intel drivers are generally standard but it's good to check.

Works Well ---Eventually
Bought this to install in my ageing Samsung RF711 laptop, so I could use it on the 5Mhz channel of my router. I fitted it in the computer, downloaded the latest Intel driver and it worked perfectly on wi-fi.Unfortunately there was no sign of the Bluetooth working - a total absence of any reference to it anywhere on the computer. I discovered a separate driver is needed for this, I so downloaded and installed it. Still no hint of Bluetooth. I was on the point of returning the card when I came across a neat little fix! Stick a piece of tape over pin 51. That's the last pin on the right, when the card is viewed with the pins along the bottom edge with the longer row to the right. It was a fiddly job but once installed everything worked perfectly.

Works after removing HP laptop whitelist :-)
I bought this to upgrade the wireless adapter on my partners 9 year old HP (Pavilion DM4-1300EA) laptop, after doing the same to my own. HP laptops usually have a 'whitelist' in their BIOS of allowed cards that can be successfully used. If you look around on the internet, you can often find a 'modified' BIOS file with the whitelist removed. In the case of HP's, visit the software/downloads section for your laptop and look under BIOS upgrades. Make a note of the SPXXXXX number. In my case this was sp56058. Google this number along with 'whitelist remove' and you may find someone has modded the BIOS for you. Now, flashing the BIOS is done at your own risk, as there is no guarantees it won't brick your laptop. This hasn't been the case in either of my 2 attempts and I now have nice and fast 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz dual band internet :-)

A quality upgrade
Fit perfectly and worked immediately. Although, necessary to install hardware specific drivers from intel site to get full functionaility. (Both the bluetooth and wifi card drivers) Note: for the antenna ports - no.1 is 5Ghz and no.2 is 2.4Ghz. My laptop has a main antenna and aux antenna (much weaker) hence i've plugged in 5Ghz on main and works a treat and 2.4Ghz works with a weaker signal (or really well closer to router).

5 mins to install and made a difference
Would have been nice to come with instructions or something but it was very easy to install in an XPS 521x.Speed better than one that came with the machine but not brilliant. But I think that may be the machines fault not the chip.Intel still do the drivers but not sure for how long so have backed them up.

Great for 5Ghz WiFi
Recently I upgraded the home WiFi to 5GHz to avoid local interference on the 2.4GHz band and also for the increased speed. My DELL Insperon N5110 was originally purchased with a 2.4GHz WiFi card which I've now replaced with this card. I'm really pleased with the increased speed and the stability is great. Be aware there are multiple versions of this card available on Amazon. Some older cards only operate on 2.4Ghz whereas this card van use both bands. Also be aware you need a 5GHz WiFi network to get the extra speed and finally, some laptops use a slightly different card with a different edge connector, so check first.
