Having trouble with Raccoons, I set up this device and it works beautifully as a deterrent. I set it to "barking dogs" to operate only at night, and it works beautifully. You can adjust the sound from gunshots, to barking dogs, to a recorded message. Flashing red lights too! Different operational settings are great for whatever your circumstances are, Adjustable volume so you wont disturb your neighbors. I have never had to recharge it. It does get about 6 hours of sun per day and works all night.

Years ago I made something similar to this from a Radio Shack voice module, PIR sensor, wall wart, and a project box. It was to keep my mom's dog from getting into trouble in the kitchen. I joked that it was a good idea for a product, but coworkers said their dogs would just ignore it. All of the parts probably cost more than this product and it took some time to assemble. Plus we didn't think of other applications.Now years later after that DIY box was given away, I wanted something similar to scare away an animal that's been causing some trouble in our backyard at 2 am. What does this product have that mine didn't? It's weatherproof, has a rechargeable battery with solar cells to charge it, has a flashing light, has the ability to have it disabled during the day (plus more options), and a remote control. Plus you can order one and likely get it within a day or two. Thanks so much for making this product, and saving me a lot of time building something inferior.The gun shot noise is a bit over the top! I don't want someone getting freaked out and calling the police at 2 AM LOL

Update: Although I'm still disappointed it stopped working, the company reached out to me and offered a complete refund. Believe it or not, I will probably order another one soon. It worked really well keeping coyotes away from my house! I am hoping I just got a "lemon" the first time. But I have to say excellent customer service!Worked ok for about 6 months...then, the battery is just dead! Will not charge with charger nor with the sun! Quite disappointed!

Be sure that you know that the animal(s) that you are trying to scare away are actually afraid of the noises made by this item. I am trying to keep deer from getting into my roses - they just stand and look, do not move.

These are loud and scare off Deer, Elk, Cougars, Bears, and you know when something is within perimeter.

Got tired of the mourning doves lining up on the steep roof, only to sit there and crap all over the deck. I attached this to a long pole temporarily and it seems to working, although it sometimes goes off in the wind, or when you walk onto the deck. I will mount in a more permanent area in the spring, but with a long charging cord permanently attached. This, I’m sure a good work very well on the ground level application.
