Great Book for Kids
I ordered this and two other books for my 9-year old grandson to read before we visited the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri. It gave him some background information on the Pony Express and its riders. And some of the riders weren’t too much older than him. He enjoyed the books very much. And I might add, a visit to the Pony Express Museum is well worth the time if you are in the St. Joseph area.

but better than that
We went to the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri. We learned about the youngest pony express rider, Charlie Miller. We found his history to be so interesting. We are all historians, but better than that, our son’s name is Charlie Miller. We were very happy to see a book about him.

Fascinating children's book...even for parents.
We checked this book out of the library. I was skeptical that my girls would like it and was secretly hoping my husband would read it to them since I am not a huge fan of Western literature. But the responsibility came down to me to read it at bedtime one night and I am so glad I did. I was fascinated by the dangers the riders faced, riders that weren't much older than my own children. I highly recommend this book! It's full of adventure and suspense. The only caution I'd give is that it does touch on child labor (Bronco Charlie was 9 when his father sent him to work on a ship) and the many dangers the young riders faced and that some did not survive them. It's an excellent illustration of US history, great for teachers or homeschoolers to illustrate life in the early Western US.

Great Children's Book
This is a great childrens book. It has adventure, excitement and a tale of a young man who performs a job most grown men could not. It too tells a story about a historical event in American history, the pony express.A must read for any young person in your family! I enjoyed reading it too!
