I have been using this for various materials and it has worked great.

I recently ordered a set of step drills for use in sheet metal, but the automatic punch that came with them made such a poor dimple in sheet steel that my drills wandered. It worked okay in aluminum or wood but I often needed something stronger. This is it. It made a no-nonsense dimple in the formed sheet steel beams of my shed where the other one had failed. How long it will last I cannot know. Because they include and extra point I suspect that it is not highly hardened steel, but I'm sure that I can sharpen it on a grinder if I damage it by using it on something harder than itself. Meanwhile I can continue to use it with the replacement point.

I needed a replacement auto center punch, and this one had decent reviews. Maybe I got a dud, but it doesn't "snap" probably half the time. This makes it hard to use, to the point of not being useful.

Worked as it should

I hardly got to use this punch before it broke. But since I didn’t start using it till after the return date, I’m stuck with it. I guess you get what you pay for. What did I expect when it’s made in China.

The MulWark Center Hole Punch package shows a website to register the product for Lifetime Warranty. After getting into the website I have to select a product to register. The center hole punch product number MLK-53856 is not on the list. I couldn’t register it for the “ Lifetime Warranty”. This is frustrating.

The media could not be loaded. As a builder of all manners of custom-made things, I use these center-punches quite frequently for accuracy when laying out fastener patterns and pinpointing holes to drill. I've had other brands that all work well, and this seems just as hearty as the others.The tool itself is a bit larger than a couple others I've had, and that's fine by me...wearing gloves in the cold weather makes my hands that much more clumsy, and a larger punch is simply easier to manipulate!The spring-loaded action works perfectly, and the point is nice and sharp out of the package.I appreciate that the tool came with another tip, as the tips naturally wear down during regular use, especially when dealing with steel, aluminum, etc. It'll be nice to have a quick replacement for the day when I don't feel like grinding the old point sharp again.All in all, this is a fine tool that looks to be up to the task of punching some points on workpieces!
