sausage
Works well when making sausages-much better than low temperature, store-bought milk powder.

Work Smarter, Not Harder
I'm not one to write reviews, however, I found it amusing how many people complained about opening the container. Oops, obviously a novice. Lol. Folks, most of us have readily available a pair of scissors and if needed a flathead screwdriver. I simply snipped the tab on the left side (you know the one where the handle acts kind of wonky) and used the tip of the scissors to "POP" the tab open. Whallah, the tab popped open. The lid was tight; thankfully, because I am using the milk powder to make chocolates, and it will take some time to use it up. The first batch came out perfect and tasted yummy. 👍to the folks that designed the lid. Sorry for you guys the don't know how to WSNH.

A repeat cusomer here, a nice product to have on hand :-)
Dried milk has come a long way since the early 1960's! This is such a nice product, using a whisk helps it blend up nicely. My only suggestion (after initially opening it) would be to transfer it to glass jars that you can open easily. For me, the little bucket that it comes in is hard to open, but it stores beautifully in big gallon glass jars. Easy to scoop out and mix up.Again, thanks for a good product, and the speedy shipment.

Perfectly Priced for a Large Family
Getting the lid off was a bit of a challenge. I carefully used a box cutter to cut the retainer tabs between the lid and the container. Then it was easier to pull the retainer strap off. Then I used an indelible marker to mark the lid where it met the notch in the container. A sturdy table or butter knife was used to pry the lid off the first few times until it got easy enough to remove the lid by hand. Don't forget to match the lid's indelible mark to the container's notch when putting the lid back on.Two tablespoons of powdered milk is 17 grams dry weight, a cup is 68 grams. Two tablespoons will make 8-10 ounces of prepared milk, depending on how "strong" the taste is to your liking. Be sure to use cold, not hot water or the powder will cook into dough balls! This product is perfectly priced for a large family, or for someone who drinks, or cooks with, a lot of milk.

Good milk flavor
I gave 5 stars because I understand this is really intended for sausage making but not drinking. I was desperate for powdered milk but none was to be found so I searched Amazon and gave this a try. Don’t expect it to mix like Carnation or a generic brand you find on the store shelf. It must be mixed in cold water and I find it is better to spoon the amount needed in your glass or cup and add a bit of cold water to make a paste and then slowly add more cold water using a whisk to get everything nicely dissolved. The end result tastes great...so a little more work but to me, worth it. I will buy again.

OK product but very hard to get the lid off its plastic bucket
I don’t make sausage, but use most of this milk powder when I cook a big batch of oatmeal. It's fine for that purpose. The milk granules are finer than ordinary supermarket powdered milk, but surprisingly don't dissolve into warm water as readily. The tough plastic container the milk comes in is great protection for the product, but it is very difficult to get the lid off. I have to use a table knife to get it started before I can peel it off the bucket.I only purchased this because dry milk has been out-of-stock in my local supermarkets and would only purchase it again for that reason.

Mom's method: Truly easy to open AND easy to dissolve
Covid-19 avoid grocery store, the shelves are barren anyway. It dissolves much easier than powdered buttermilk. Put water in container FIRST, then add powder. Nice mild flavor. To open, look for embossed arrows above Sausage Maker label with butter knife (the arrows are the same color as tub. A piece of collar breaks off to allow room to pry lid. I gripped container with clean grippy garden gloves and used the same butter knife to loosen lid. The entire lid dreaded to nice fine powdered milk. Dissolve milk in shaker cup. Great milk (added ice), chocolate milk (with Nesquik chocolate syrup) or hot cocoa. Perfect for baking. Directions on label are accurate 3 T to 8 ounces of water.
