Best for small, light toddlers
I tried this for a larger toddler and it was not supportive. Nice to keep toys off the ground but I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting a toddler sleep on it due to thin materials.

Okay fabric but poor straps and concept
I’m all for anything that will help my kid rest on the plane, but the execution on this one really misses the mark. It requires you to place a strap both around the kid’s seat and over the tray table in front of you. I guess if a family member is sitting in front of your kid that miiiiiight work, but otherwise you’re going to royally annoy the passenger who feels every tug of your kid’s hammock on their seat. (Read: don’t do this!) And I say “hammock” because that’s the general concept here; it’s just two straps with a piece of fabric in the middle that lets your kid keep their feet up. The inflatable foot rests are just as effective for this. I am thinking to try to use this in the car but can only give it 2/5 stars for its intended purpose.

Worked for naps
My child is too small for their legs to reach the floor, so they just dangle. This seat extender works for naps. It allows them to stretch their legs out, without putting weight on the part of the fabric that's just hanging midair. We were actually able to open the tray table too, as their legs are still small enough to fit underneath. The back straps go through the seat belt, and the front strap go around the "arms" of the tray table. It's easy to adjust using the buckles. There are nonslip dots on the bottom, but they aren't that grippy. That's ok, as my child's weight kept this mostly in place. There is also a side pocket, which might be handy to keep small toys.

check with the airline if it is allowed
--Airplane Seat Extender for Kids Toddler Airplane Bed Baby Foot Rest Comfort Aircot for Flying Foldable Plane Nap Cot Kid Footrest Portable Sleeping Mats--The fabric is thick and sturdy with good hardware. The included storage bag is too small to close. The seat extender barely fits once you get it folded up--actually the way we got it folded the extender sticks out above the bag opening a tiny amount. It is pictured that there is room to close it, although I suppose it doesn't matter if you can't as while there is a pull string, there isn't a lock on it to keep it closed. Not sure we will be able to use on the plane as now reading a lot of people saying they weren't allowed to use theirs but then plenty of people saying how great these are. If can't use on the plane, are still planning on trying to set up in the car to help catch spills and help catch toys.

not useful.
I really wanted to like this, but it was too much trouble to use so I didn’t use it on my last airplane trip. There are no instructions for how to use it, but the only way I could figure out how to attach it was to put one Velcro strap around the seat in front of your kid (you have to ask the person sitting in that seat if they mind) and then the other cord around the back of your kid’s seat.It is actually relatively stable, but I don’t like that it impacts others by having a Velcro cord on their seat.I do like that there’s a little pocket (my toddler kid was excited to play with that) and that they put some grip on the bottom to try to minimize sliding and movement.

Used in car
When I saw this seat extender, I knew it would work well in my car. I attached one point to the rear headrest and the other part to the drivers seat. Now, my dog has a place to lay without falling onto the floor. The black color is easy to keep clean and hides any stains. The material is sturdy but flexible.
