The pruning saw has a black locking lever that lifts up to unlock. In the open full expended position the black lever is down to lock. To fold, lift the black lever up and fold blade down into slotted handle then fold black lever down to lock. Blade is very sharp. Be careful when folding.

Lift the small black lever on top of the handle and then it will hinge blade. Close lever once open to lock it.

I've used this saw a lot for trimming and pruning of branches up to c. 2.5-inch diameter and I've had no trouble with the blade buckling.
