best investment I made on this car
I was thinking about getting one of these for a while but never got around to it until recently. I had to take my Expedition to the garage to replace some torsion bars and Mike, my mechanic, says his kids put K&N on all their vehicles and swear by them. Both his kids are mechanics and work in the same garage and that was good enough for me. He said if I can get a K&N for a better price then he can, he'll be glad to install it. So I looked around and Amazon had better prices than his supplier and a week later we were stripping off the old intake.Installation took about a half an hour, only because these guys have done it before and, unlike me, they keep their tools organized, but it was a pretty easy install. It looks great under my hood and I can now see my engine but driving is where I can see my money well spent. It's like my asthmatic car suddenly had new lungs and I can feel at least a 10% increase in HP. The tranny doesn't shift gears as much going up hills and take off is so much more responsive. It now sprints when I hit the gas instead of shambling. The first and second fill up showed a consistent 2mpg increase in fuel consumption. Not much but considering the increase in HP I'm very pleased and now I can't wait to get behind the wheel. The next step is a back cat to modify the exhaust to let the car breathe even better. Hey... I gotta hear it roar!

Woah!!
This has to be my favorite Amazon purchase to date. This weekend, I installed this intake system on my 2002 4.6L F-150. The directions were good, but there wasn't any youtube videos out there for this specific model. The same for K&N's website. The step-by-steps tend to miss a couple of steps. You just have to be sure to look at the exploded diagram often and pay close attention to make sure that you are using the right parts in their necessary steps. I thought that the kit could have used at least one more small clamp after cutting down the size of the air bypass tube, but I had extras so no biggie... Ok. It just looks a little different and my OCD was kicking in.The deep sound, throttle response and HP are definitely felt! I already had Flowmasters going for me, but you can really tell when this sucker starts gulping in air. So far, I've been driving it around for three days and no sign of the dreaded "check engine" light. I'm good to go and so will you. Get it!

2003 F150 5.4L
I got this item off the Amazon Warehouse Deals for $166 in Used Like New condition. When recieved it, it was in great condition and all the parts there, like it had never been opened. The installation instructions were kinda hard to see/follow but if go to K&N website you can see them in color which makes it easier. Took me a few hours to install. I installed it in my 2003 Ford F150 5.4L. From first drive it seems more responsive. Is hard to do a side by side compairson. Maybe a little bit more power. Havent driven it enough to see if MPG has increased. Was averaging 16-19 mpg before installiation. I run a full synethic oil in it and non-agressive/street tires. Will try to update when get first MPG reading. Dose sound neet when tromp on it.

nice product
I installed the air intake kit on a 1997 ford expedition. It did take me about 4 hours as I lost a couple of screws and had to go to the local Ace hardware to replace. The directions are ok, but the pictures are pretty small and details are hard to make out. The product itself works great. You can feel the horsepower difference as soon as you step on the gas. I picked up about 1.2 mpg in fuel efficiency which is nothing to sneeze at in an expedition. It is fun to step on the gas and listen to it suck air.

IT ACTUALLY WORKS AS CLAIMED!!!
Was really surprised at the difference it makes, yes you can here it slightly, if you drive around with no music playing. Gas mileage is so far 1.5 to 2 mpg better. There was a little rattle from the tubing touching the housing I put the left over rubber hose on the housing. Problem fixed. Is it worth the money? Only if you want your truck to run better. My truck is a 2001 Ford F150 Super Crew 4x4 with a canopy with 192k miles and 100% stock except for bigger tires and rims. All properly maintained.

Wow this is pretty sad
1997 Ford F150 4.6L. I installed the product in about 4 hours. I could not believe how difficult this was. I have installed many of these kits on many cars, but this one was a joke. The instructions are black and white and super small pictures that do not help at all. The only saving grace was the front page diagram which I constantly had to turn to throughout my install. It fir very poorly, and I ended up just taking it back off, because it looked crappy and my engine cover would not fit due to the way they designed the portion closest to the throttle body. The instructions require cutting one of the plastic valves which I refuse to do, since it says it is bolt on, which possibly caused the crappy fitment, but overall it included everything you need, but it required so much customizing that in the end it was not worth the price or fitment at all.

Easy to install
Easy to install. Noticed power increase immediately and gave the engine a bit of a "throaty" sound, however, even when I'm taking it easy putting along on the freeway for a tank at a time, my fuel mileage hasn't increased any. I thought for sure I'd pick up at least a few MPG on the highway, but so far, been through about three tanks of gas, and nothing.
