I gave this to my 12 year old. She reading it for its fashion info, cute set up, sewing ideas, artistic drawings and because it's a little unique. She knows how to do a few basic things on the machine and this is a good intro but also has ideas for finding your own style if she's not that serious about sewing. Great gift. She loved it. If your kid likes seventeen magazine this is not for you , more artistic!

I enjoyed the book & illustrations, thought them to be appropriate for the recommended age range, but was disappointed because my granddaughter was not attracted to it. I left it out, hoping she would pick it up, but she did not seem interested even when I brought it to her attention. guess it's not for everyone!

This book is amazing and both my 8 and 9 year-old daughter's love it, as do I! I am attending one of the author's events in a couple of weeks and can't wait!!

The designs might look nice but good luck trying to create them. Worst instructions ever. I’m working with my 8-year-old daughter to help her make a dress as a final school year project from this fairly simple-looking pattern and both her father and I put together can barely decipher what the author is trying to convey with the directions. Confusing wording and many missed steps that are left out—one just has to infer based on logic and trial and error what each step is. It’s like an alien wrote these directions. We might as well have come up with our own pattern from scratch out of our own heads because that’s basically what we’re having to do when making up for the lack of useful instructions given in the book. Worthless as anything other than a coffee table book of ideas. For actual sewing projects, get a real pattern.
