Probably the best in the market
Really solid tape measure. The quality is really good and the readability is excellent. I am a fan of the clip system as it prevents the tape from falling off my belt. The tape is easy to read and does not feel easy to snap. Edges of the tape are smooth which may be due to the soft coating on it. Overall a great option for pros.

Best build quality, but lacks in accuracy.
First off the good. The tape measure has excellent build quality in all the areas that really count. The tape blade is very strong and rigid with clear markings. The 32nd marks for the first 12 inches are very welcome. The design shines when it comes to the end hook - it has zero play except in the direction that it should to account for inside vs outside measurements. I have never seen another tape measure brand's hook design come even close to Tajima's. There is a soft bumper to prevent the tape hook slamming into the body upon recoil, and I anticipate this greatly helping to prevent damage to the tape measure hook's rivets, which would affect measurements. The bad. My ONE big gripe, and its a fairly significant one in my opinion, is that the tape is NOT AS ACCURATE as I had hoped. When compared to my precision 12" steel ruler (and also verified with certified Mitutoyo digital calipers), the tape measure is about 1/3 of a 32nd off. Both inside measurements as well as outside measurements have this exact same amount of error (which means the hook design is working very well). I had heard so many good things about this brand and it's reputation for accuracy, but I was it was not as good as I was hoping. As I use it for fine woodworking and furniture building, this means the difference between seamless quality wood joinery and second-rate joinery.Aside from this I am not a fan of the belt clip thingy. It makes the tape ridiculously thick and requires you have that stupid clip wherever you go if you want to have it easily accessible on your person. A standard belt clip would have been much better IMO.

Great Japanese quality
For carpentry this tape is excellent. The build is very good, good retraction, good standout for the blade width, decent hook. It is also very small and fits comfortably in the hands. Also has measurements on the back

My favorite tape measure
I traveled to Japan a few years ago and a friend introduced me to the Tajima tape measure holding clip. I immediately purchased this set as soon as I got home to the US. It has a very satisfying click when putting your tape measure back. Depressing the release becomes second nature. The best part is no more tape measure falling off my pants. You can also purchase a safety lanyard separately if you’re working from high areas and don’t want to drop it to the ground. The tape measure is well marked on both sides.

My new favorite tape measure
Not sure what it is that makes this tape measure my new favorite. Super smooth operation and heavy duty hook are a plus. I modified my work apron to accomodate for the clip. The clip really helps secure the tape measure and is super easy to remove and replace the tape. I am a full time woodworker and spend most of my time in the woodshop. This tape definitely is worth the few extra bucks.

Great tape. Durable blade. Favorite tape so far.
I’ve been building cabinets for 16 years and have used and abused every tape measure out there. I’ve been using this one for about 3 months and there’s not even a kink in the blade edge yet. I cut a lot of molding and always bend and drop my tape. This one has held up very well.Only problem I have with this tape measure is you can’t hook and pull the tape with one hand. The rubber guard around the plastic case is thick and doesn’t allow the blade hook to hang down. You have to pull the tape out a few inches and then hook and pull. Minor.. but still annoying at times.

Decent but not worth the price
I got it for the clip option but you can only use it with a belt so I had to take a hacksaw to it to make it a clip on. The tape gets hung up on the rivets so you have to be careful or your measurement will be off about.half an inch. It is accurate and strong but not as strong as a Fatmax, I got a bend in mine In less than a week
