Fast, effective and easy
We bought this to upcycle a coffee table we bought. It was painted in a chalk paint, and turned out to have 3 layers of paint. One 1L bucket was perfect and at £20, was excellent value for money. On one application (not too thick a layer) was enough to get through all the layers. It took a bit of work to get all the layers off evenly, but we got through it easily enough.Once we had finished scraping the paint off, a quick rinse with water got any leftover residue off and cleaning the product out of the paintbrush we used to apply it was easy as well. The photo attached is after the first application and scraping. I would recommend going section by section - trying to do too much at once leads to frustration!

Be patient with this product...
I've been using this product for the last 3 weeks. I have stripped the paint from 2 rooms floorboards. Here's what I know now, this is NOT like nitromors because that product is now banned. I have tried 2 different products and they are very similar e.g they are as thick as wall paper paste and have a slight smell to them which is not unpleasant. This product is using some type of chemical process to make paint loose it's bond to the surface. So you MUST scrape it to get off the paint. I used a few different scrapers and what I found worked best was some wood chisels. Use a paintbrush and paint over the varnish or paint and leave it be for a few hours then put another coat of the product on and leave it for 30 minutes and then scrape with something sharp and flat like a scraper or a chisel. You must work with this product it will not strip paint like nitromors because its not destroying the paint, it's loosening it's bond to the surface, you might scrape and it appears to do nothing, just carry on and as you scrape the paint will start to lift away from the wood. If your removing varnish or in my case carpet tape it turns that into a thick sludge that can be scraped away but be prepared to have to clean your scraper often. I would recommend a big roll of that blue paper towel as your going to need a lot of your doing anything of size. If you hit any stubborn bits add some more product and come back to it in another 30 minutes and try again. I did leave this overnight several times and I even slept in the room I had applied it to with no ill effects unlike some paints or white spirits, etc. This product is much safer but also takes a lot longer to work and your going to have to work to get paint or varnish off so be prepared to get your hands dirty. Oh and don't cover it in clingfilm overnight, this product does dry overnight and that's why you need to add another coat so it becomes wet again before you try scraping. Good luck hope this helps someone with their DIY project.

Incredible magical solution to all my problems DIY
Incredible!!! Really can’t understand such poor reviews…This stuff is the best thing ever and my go to for removing paint and wallpaper, used it back in December when re-decorating the front room to remove wallpaper. Then stupidly didn’t go to it first when stripping the paint from my stair banister and used klingstrip which is rubbish compared to this stuff, so ended up buying more of this product and it removed the paint in no time. Recommend applying it generously with a paint brush and then covering it with cling film or even bin bags or plastic shopping bags. Make sure not to allow the product to dry or else you will not see the magic happen when removing it. Use a scrapper to remove paint and wallpaper. Also recommend covering floors as depending on how big of an area you need to cover will determine on the mess that is created when removing whatever it is you want gone. To remove wallpaper I left the product on for 12ish hours and to remove paint I left it on for 4-24 hours depending on how many layers of paint had been applied (more layers more hours). Please don’t put the price of this product up I’d be gutted if I can’t afford to buy it anymore! To remove wallpaper from the front room I had to buy two tubs of this product and to remove the paint from the stair banister I only had to buy one tub.

Be aware of what you're using it on - take care with laminated wood.
I used this stuff to strip a fairly worn and sun-bleached IKEA Poang chair frame. For those that aren't aware, this is made from laminated wood (i.e., layers of wood glued and compressed together). I coated the chair and wrapped the parts in cling film for about 45 minutes before using both a steel scourer and a scraper to strip the dissolved varnish. This worked reasonably well but there was a lot of dirty residue left and therein, in my opinion, lies the problem with this stripper. It was quite difficult to clean up and required a lot of water which left the wood very wet and the grain raised in places. While sanding will smooth it back, I'm concerned that the top layer of wood will be damaged and water will have got between the laminates, thus weakening the chair.By all means use this but be aware of what you're using it on.
