General Motors Genuine GM 12571609 Valve Lifter

The dealer quoted over $1800 to replace this part. I did it myself in 6 hours plus the cost of the part.

I just had the top end of the motor done on my 2007 Suburban 5.3l with AFM. I purchased this VLOM as its recommended when you replace lifters. The top end of my motor was not all bad, I just had a collapsed AFM lifter, but while I had it apart it made sense to have cylinder heads done. My mechanic (who’s also a relative) and I got it back together only to have a misfire. We have talked with the local Chevy deal and a service tech there, along with several other shops. We have tested every possible issue to troubleshoot the misfire. Everything points to this new VLOM that had ZERO miles on it before the misfire started. Today we will pull it of to test and double check the VLOM. What does it take to replace or refund If in fact this part is defective?We thought it was a bad VLOM. In fact it was the Kevlar (plastic) lifter guide that was bad. That was the only thing we didn’t replace. When we had it all apart, we replaced all the lifter guides. Make sure you replace all the lifter guides. Also, if you have higher miles (150K or more) replace the PCV valve. The PCV is built into the drivers side valve cover. If you do not replace this you will get a little white smoke on start up, that does away after about 20 seconds. I replaced this and all is perfect! Engine seems to have more get up and go than when it was new.

After getting a collapsed AFM valve lifter in my wife's 2007 Tahoe, we ordered this VLOM along with full valve lifter kit. Car drives like new again! We also took the precaution of ordering a Range Technology AFM Disabler Device which plugs into the diagnostics port under the dash. This prevents the vehicle from ever going into V4 mode again. So not only does the car drive like new again, but it is smoother and more responsive, just like a V8 should be!
