Q: What is the size of the tissue? are they 2 ply or 3 ply? are they as soft as kleenex ultra soft?

They are 3-ply tissues. (8.6x8.3in) I don’t think they are ultra soft but in my taste soft enough where it does not hurt or irritate the nose. Hope this helps.

Q: Do these open at the side or top?

There is an opening marks in the middle of the pack it’s open like an envelope
