Would not waste money and saffron on birdfeed and most likely will not work. Cayenne is the spicy spice that has enough kick to keep the squirrels and other rodents away and keep your birds happen. 1:3 ratio. (1 Tbsp cayenne to 3 cups feed)

How do I cook with this?

You can add safron in a rice dish like spanish paella, risotto, or spanish soups and stews. I only add about 3 to 4 strands in the dish I am cooking. Not too much. Hope this help.
