Q: Do you have to decarb material before using, or does it occur during use?

i would look into investing in a decarbing machine as well made by Ardent...would help when using STX... as i have a magic butter and thinking about buying one of these as well.. But i decarb my herb in Ardent Decarb machine and infuse low and slow..

Q: Is it normal to put a cup of butter in and only get a half a cup out?

We put 4 sticks in and only got a little less than 3 sticks out. I can tell you that initially we got 2 sticks (about 50% of what we put in) out but then we ringed the filter out with the solids in it and got almost a whole stick out of that. Hope this helps.
