How does this thing turn on? Got two of them for my twins both don't turn on

Make sure its fully charged and battery connections are seated properly. There is a switch on the gas tank for forward and reverse. I believe the switch has an off position between the two.

Can the speed be adjusted

Not that Im aware of, but is pretty slow compared to other ride on/in toys.

Where do I plug in to charge a 12 v

right side (if you were sitting on it) of the motor

Can you upgrade to a 12V ? Seems very slow at 6V

Can't. It's just too slow and not worth the price.
