Blue Core: Book One

Tldr; this is an incredibly well done litrpg/fantasy book that just happens to have tastefully done tentacle sex in it.Full review:I picked this up on a whim, I've loved litrpg/dungeon core books for a few years now, and the promise of that plus some adult stuff was enough for me to buy the book. The book itself is what is making me give this full marks. It's incredibly well done, nothing in the book felt like the prose was forced or rushed, and the sex scenes were titillating and tasteful, they add to the feeling that this world is real. The author even specifically labels the chapters with the sex scenes, allowing for easy skim/skips if you're not into them, or easy markers if you're VERY into them and want to return to one.The characters are well written and have believable goals with individual traits, they all feel like their own people, even minor characters.The setting is expansive and well described, lending itself to imagining future content.10/10 book, I have no notes, definitely picking up the next book immediately.

First off, in a market where most books are glorified novellas, this book stands apart as one of real length and substance. I truly don’t begrudge authors spinning out the fast stories, because people gotta eat. But as good as a burger can be, sometimes you want a steak. This right here is a sweet t-bone, folks. Not only is it a book of substance, but that substance is really really good. You have slow steady character, power, and plot growth tucked into a great world. The characters are great and the plot is imaginative and interesting. You find yourself invested in all the players, and amazed at the continuing magic and mayhem. The adult scenes are declared up front (ingenious), so you can skip them or skim them as preferred. They’re done quite well too though, really. Definitely recommended! (17+)

This is compiled from a web novel, where the chapters would have been serialized on a schedule. I think it's just converted over directly with little or no editing and no additional material AFAIK. This shows in a number of ways - including how this volume might have been better served being split into 2 (or even 3 with some story padding). The origins also show in the way the author seems to experiment with a few too many different POVs (when an in depth re-edit might have removed the more minor ones).Without going into too many details it's a rather generic "reincarnated/re-bodies as a ..." start. The things that will set it apart are that the MC is a dungeon (which is handled somewhat interestingly) and the "adult" content which is decently well written and not too frequent. As others have noted the adult content is also present in the other volumes but becomes less frequent, making it feel a bit like a bait and switch, although from the author's note at the end of volume 3 it seems like this is also due to the author only wanting to include scenes that he/she felt were well written (it's noted that these can be difficult to write). I should also note that it's a harem, although it doesn't get too big.For the first book, the power progression feels relatively well paced and not too hurried. However this does lead to a bit of a problem in the final confrontation which feels way to "staged" with the MC getting some plot armor instead of a better written plot. Also a bit of a forced cliff hanger is added.

Blue Core is a masterpiece through and through. The masterful, pristinely edited writing, being a mix of tradition narritive writing and modern elements made it easy to slip into the world portrayed. The characters all showed no lack of depth, with proper motivations, and their own perspectives and secrets. The universe is full of wonderful mysteries and intricacies, many of which are surprisingly rooted in actual scientific concepts. The explicit chapters, which need to be mentioned, are certainly not for everyone. If you are not comfortable with depictions of sex, which plenty of twist from the traditional, either skip those chapters (they are marked) or don't read this book. But if they don't bother you, or on the contrary interest you, then you will find both them and the book in it's entirety a wonderful experience. To top it all off, at over a thousand pages, this novel fits the equivalent of roughly 4 light novels into a single volume, making it well worth the price to pick it up.

This was a great series. I just finished reading the third book and I loved all three of them. For anyone that likes dungeon/litRPG/fantasy types of books, you should seriously give this one a shot. If you're worried about the explicit chapters, I can tell you that they take up a very, very small portion of each book. The first book only had eight explicit chapters out of ninety-seven chapters and each one can be skipped without losing much story-wise. The next two books only had three explicit chapters each. In each book the explicit chapters are clearly marked. The story was really well written and progresses quickly without becoming mired in filler like some similar books. All in all, I'm definitely going to look into this author's other works now.

This sucks. Not the book but my good fortune. In recent days I've found lots of great books, books that make me extremely excited for the next volume. This one is no different, apart from even better quality than most. And bargain at almost a thousand pages for what I believe was $5 through Kindle.No, the reason my good fortune sucks is that I'm due for some backlash, like having to wait 6 months to a year for the next volume, or my phone crapping out and not being able to read my books, and once replaced having to recreate all my collections.But this book is wonderful. Lots of great ideas and world building, interesting characters, enjoyable sex scenes that are more than just an excuse for characters to bump uglies. Not to mention I love dungeon fiction. I'm buying every volume in this series as soon as I am able.

I’ll like to give a round of applause to the author for not turning this book and the next into multiple smaller books like many other writers have. I can also say, these books have been written with some extreme passion. Props to you.

Despite the weird tentacle fetish (only in some scenes) of the author the story itself is great.The main character (a dungeon) becomes more and more powerful and even if the scrambling for advancement is weird to read its a main part of the story so thats fine.The world itselft with all its characters is beautiful and described if not in depth at least not too shallow.
