Firstly, yes it does smell out of the packet. Most things do these days and I never expect to use something the day I get it. This just needed a day or so to air out the chemical smells and then it was fine to me.As an older wheelchair user, my hands have been through a lot of wear and tear over the years and suffer because of this. I use this item at night to keep my wrist, hand and fingers in place and give them some relief during my sleeping hours. For my purpose it works quite well.It could be more comfortable but there is a fine line between being comfortable and effective. Of course if you want something to fit perfectly then you are talking about having one specially made for you and the $$$ that would cost. This is a good compromise.

I have a problem with my thumb doctor gave me two choice, either surgery or pain killers rest of my life. I decided to take the surgery route. I have to keep my hand intact make sure it doesn't move, especially while I am asleep. I found this greta splint on Amazon, it arrived super fast. Out of the packaging there was a slight glue smell, it went away after an hour. This splint works great. it has elastic finger restrains, also velcro tie downs to keep your hand, thumb and fingers stable. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's great product for anyone with similar issues.

This splint does keep your hand straight and immobilized while using it. It's reversible so can be used on left or right arms. The velcro straps let you tighten it at several points for an enhanced bracing effect. I use it regularly with great satisfaction. It's not super stiff, but will perform as intended.

This item is terrible. It had a very strong smell, it's absolutely massive and extremely stiff. I have been using braces for sleeping for 10+ years due to wrist issues and this is the worst item I have ever seen. There is not way to sleep comfortably with this item. Do not recommend.

Splint is very bulky and uncomfortable. I would not recommend it to any one.

This is a very strong, but adjustable brace for wrist and hand - for contracture is seems to help a little but doesn't seem to help long term and is awkward to wear bc of it's bulk and 'restraining' aspect.As comfortable as this is (ie, fully adjustable), it just didn't help much - it may work better for those with more severe hand/wrist issues.Solidly made and well documented, it just didn't help much for me.

I was just diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Friends with the same affliction urged me to get a splint. So I ordered this one.It is well made. It is comfortable. It even has a zipper to remove the cover for cleaning.It holds my hand steady and comfortably.Highly recommended.
