Q: Could i use this for intonation?

Yes. It will register any note that you play whether fretted or not. You can lightly touch a string at the 12th fret so it rings when plucked without pushing it against the fret and compare it to the note you get when you push the string down at the 12th fret. This shows you how close your intonation is. Bear in mind that fretted instruments are tempered scales. This means that some notes are more in tune than others and people who really care tune their instruments to the key that they are playing in. If you want a precision tuner to set the accurate intonation for each string, get a better tuner but this one will get you close.

Not at all. B is almost impossible to register, E not much better. A Snark works next to flawlessly on the same instrument for me, so it's pretty clear, this does not work well on a 5 string bass, regardless how many endorsers say the otherwise. I strongly suggest you buy something else for bass guitar tuning.
