Thoughtfully Designed, Slows Down Mealtime Without Frustration
Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo Bowl, Slow Feeder Dog Bowl, Medium/Mini, Turquoise===================================================================================================Slow Feeder Dog Bowl, Medium/Mini, TurquoiseALTERNATE REVIEW TITLE: Thoughtfully Designed, Slows Down Mealtime Without FrustrationIf you’re looking for a practical way to curb fast eating habits in your dog, the Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo Bowl (Medium/Mini, Turquoise) is a clever and effective solution. After reading through several reviews and now having used it myself, I can say it strikes the right balance between fun and function. The first thing you'll notice is the quality of the bowl. It’s sturdy, well-made, and the turquoise color is vibrant without being garish. The maze-like ridges inside the bowl are not just decorative — they’re strategically placed to make your pup work just a little harder for each bite. That added effort means a slower eating pace, which can help reduce choking, bloating, and even some of that frantic behavior around food. Also, because of the bowl’s design, it naturally slows the gulping of water when food is served wet or mixed with broth, which is another subtle benefit. And since this feeder comes in different styles and patterns, it might be worth rotating a few if your dog thrives on variety. You will also appreciate that this particular size (Medium/Mini) is a good fit for smaller breeds — in my case, a miniature dachshund. It holds just the right amount of kibble for one meal, and it’s not so deep or complex that it causes frustration. Instead, it turns mealtime into a little puzzle — engaging, but not discouraging. It’s also dishwasher-safe, which makes cleanup easy — something I always check for when buying pet items. A few users mentioned that it might slide on certain floors, but I didn’t experience much movement on mine (you can always place a matOne thing I would add — it's helpful to supervise the first couple of uses. Some dogs need a little time to adjust to the new eating style, but most adapt quickly. Mine actually seemed to enjoy the challenge, and I noticed a calmness afterward that wasn’t always there with regular bowls. There’s something about pacing the meal that reduces that anxious energy some dogs show at feeding time.In short, this is not just another pet accessory — it’s a small change that makes a noticeable difference. For any dog parent concerned about digestion, choking, or mealtime anxiety, the Outward Hound Fun Feeder Slo Bowl is an excellent investment in your pet’s well-being.Overall, this feeder is thoughtfully designed and highly functional. It’s not a gimmick — it genuinely works. If your dog eats too fast or has digestive issues related to speed-eating, this is a smart and affordable upgrade. Definitely worth trying.

Wonderful bowl for too fast eating doggo!
My Josie is (medium sized doggo at 40 pounds) who is a beagle/golden retriever mix. (She was supposed to be a rescued Chihuahua😆 My vet laughed himself silly at the Chihuahua part!) Josie is 3 years old and her favorite pastimes are eating, sniffing, eating, napping, eating, stealing my chair, eating, playing with other dogs, eating. Im sure you are getting the main theme of her life. I feed her dry dog food every other night. She will wolf down anything in two seconds. (We call her porch dog...yeah if you grew up country....ya know) Seriously, Im not sure she tastes anything until its gone. Then she licks her tongue across her nose after eating... a couple of times..that is for taste! There has been a time or two that I think I'm gonna come back with a bloody stump for a hand when I set her food bowl down. I thought Id give this feeding bowl a whirl...to help her slow down a bit when eating. It actually works. It takes her a good 5 minutes to eat her dry kibble. The first few times I sat this bowl down...I got the side eye. That bowl was "suspect" ...no matter how good the kibble or her hunger pains. The bowl is well made with heavy plastic with rubber at the bottom so your doggo won't be pushing it around. It holds approximately 2.5 cups of food. Josie is now used to the bowl but occasionally I get the loud sigh that says "Where is MY regular bowl? Totally worth the money!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. GET IT!! Can’t beat the price either
Here’s my verdict after 3 days of use:GET. IT. **Photos of size; water bottle for perspective and the intial quick eater in question**If you have a loved pet who just scarfs, inhales, will choke or throw up from eating too fast, however you want to put it; Buy one of these. I got the small size as our girlies are fed in incraments throughout the day. 7am, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. I got this for my girl Clair as she is KNOWN to just not even chew and make herself throw up she eats so fast. We’ve thought about slow feeders before and she Was given one of those puzzle feeders… she solved that in under 15 seconds 🤦🏼♀️ I put this bowl to use the SECOND we got it delivered and it has Drastically slowed her down to a normal eating pace. She ‘savors’ her meals if you will now. And for whatever reason, our good eater girl has begun to completely scarf down her food for reasons unknown. I Will be buying another slow feeder for her considering just tossing it on the ground to try slowing her down is not the method I would like.5/5 10/10 love this product. Depending on the size dog bowl you have it may fit in the bottom perfectly or snug, while others may make it difficult to be placed inside at all.

Almost perfect
I'll explain why not 5 starts.First off, works perfectly! Made a huge difference for my big dogs who always scarf down their food and water. So I am sooo happy I got them.My one complaint (and I'm picky) is their packaging. They used a weird double sided glue strip to put their cardboard packaging on. And used A LOT of it. Aside from sitting there scrubbing it for a long time (and I bought 4), the only option is to have residue of cardboard and glue all over it and partially inside the bowl. There has to be a better way to package it, especially since these are items that water and food go into.Still, I recommend to solve any fast eating issues.

Does The Job
We have (just got) a 1.5 year 30lb mix who eats like she was just rescued off a desert island. This slow feeder does the job enough. Her 30 second meal has turned into a 3 minute meal. I can now actually hear some crunching. She took to it like it's the only bowl she ever had. I don't understand the complaints that the medium is too small. It can handle 2 cups of food with no problem. I had first purchased the large (because of the comments) but it was too big and too deep. I had to return it.
