Shenkitchen Professional Wine Opener Corkscrew

I received a new opener from Shenkitchen in response to a previous review of the product (see below) and I have to give credit to Shenkitchen for their great customer service. I also have to give credit to them for the improvement in the product. The new wine opener works like a charm, and has now become my "go to" opener. After using the previous iteration of the opener, which would not let me remove the opened cork from the wine opener, I tried to make the new one "fail" with several cork removal tests, but was not successful.This is a great opener and I would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a hand-held wine opener.Old review - This opener does not remove the cork from the opener well at all. Loved this...for almost 3 months, until it broke. The silver piece that you hold onto broke off completely after minimal use. Poorly constructed; cheaply made.4/6/16Within hours of posting the above review, I was contacted by the company and offered a replacement (different design) to trial. I agreed and have had the opener for a short time, opening a few bottles of wine with it. So far, this opener feels much sturdier. It operates smoother than the earlier version and it is easier to get the cork out. So far, no problems with the cork being forced back into the bottle or falling apart. All in all, I like this design much better than the earlier version. I will post another review after I have used this one for a few months, but am upgrading my earlier rating because of the customer service and the much improved version of the opener.12/28/16Loved the new version, for a few months. Then, it got the cork out of the way, but unfortunately, it was the wrong direction. It began shoving the cork into the bottle instead of removing it. I tried replacing the corkscrew, twice, with no change. Finally, I had enough and tossed it. Company had requested to recontact them if there were problems, but found no way to actually do that. It was a great opener while it worked, but just doesn't last.

So I've had this for about a year now and am still as impressed with it as when I first got it. Initially I was a little concerned over the parts of it that are plastic, but after opening a few hundred bottles it has turned out to be a non-issue. Our home is often busy with friends and guests so we go through 5-10 bottles during any given week. I've had Rabbit Ears and other such openers but this one is far and above the easiest.Procedure:1. Remove foil2. Place on bottle3. Handle down4. Handle up (cork comes off the screw automatically)5. PourEasy as falling out of bed (ok I've never actually done that). But no kidding, opening wine bottles doesn't get easier than this!

I bought this several years ago, and it served faithfully until a few months ago. It worked beautifully. Then the silver neck handle was pulled off when a guest of mine didn't know how to use it. Since it had worked well for me, I ordered a replacement, but I had nothing but trouble with it. The device pushed the cork into the bottle. I figured out you have to verify the screw rotates before putting it on a bottle. If not, raise and lower the lever until you hear a click. So far, so good. Then the nut that holds the screw to the body somehow became stripped, so that lowering the lever did not screw the screw into the cork. I am able to return it, thank goodness, since it failed less than a month since I got it. Moral: If you encounter *any* trouble with its operation, immediately return it!

This is my first wine opener of this kind, and I am happy with the purchase. At first you have to get use to how it aligns to top of bottle, but it is no big deal. It is quick, and works perfectly. Actually fun to pull a cork out that easy and quickly. I have been using the normal wing corkscrew openers, and was tired of them breaking. This seems sturdy enough and hopefully will last a while. I have been using it for a few months now and have no complaints. If there is any downside, it is heavy and big, so unlike your normal wine opener, depending on your kitchen space, you probably will not be able to store it in your top kitchen drawer. I like it and would purchase again at this point.

First bottle right out of the box and it did't work, took 3 stabs to get the cork to hang onto the screw then only pulled it 3/4 of the way out had to wrestle the rest of the way. Tried 3 more bottles, next bottle did a repeat of the 1st the other 2 it just kept unscrewing back out wouldn't pull at all. I'm done with the rabbit style this the second new ( different brands) that was bunk right out of the packaging, going back to the old tried & true method.

This is simply the best corkscrew ever! I bought one as part of a set for a colleague as my Secret Santa, and when I saw her use it, I had to get one for myself. I bought a set for myself a few years ago, and still loving it. This one I bought now is to keep in the RV for camping. Yup, it's that good. You'll never want to use any other kind once you try this. Even people with arthritis or other injuries can use this with ease. It does all the work for you.

This corkscrew is great! For many years, I owned a similar corkscrew (which I loved!), but it finally gave out on me (a small piece of plastic broke at the hinge). I then purchased a nearly identical Goodmanns corkscrew, but it didn't operate as smoothly as my old one, so I purchased this one from Shenkitchen Professional (for less than a dollar more). I compared the action of the two brands, and the Shenkitchen corkscrew works much more smoothly (very similar to my old one), so I returned the one from Goodmanns. The packaging for the Shenkitchen Professional corkscrew is also much more attractive than that of the Goodmanns corkscre. If you're planning on gifting one of these, the Shenkitchen Professional is a much better option.
