Dusty
I shall never buy a Dyson again. Heavy and awkward to carry. Shape makes it difficult to store and emptying creates a cloud of dust.

Best Vacuum I have ever had
I have had my Dyson DC08 for 2 years now and it still works like new, i did have a problem with loss of suction about 6 months ago and called customer services who were very helpful, they told me i needed to clean the filter which i did and it worked like new. I would recommend the dyson to anyone who is thinking of buying a new vaccum.

Dyson is really not what I expected ...
I've been learning about Dyson's excellence for years, but decided to buy it only a week ago, because in Slovakia Dyson is terrrrrible expensive (DC 08 Origin costs half a year ago >600 Euro, which is much more than month average income), therefore nearly nobody buy it ... actually it costs "only" 370 Euro ;-)I bought it in Vienna (Austria) for 239 Euro at MediaMarkt.Only at home I met the first surprise: the date of production is December 2004, so this model is probably bestseller worldwide :-)Next surprise: it can't suck liquids (drops of water are always somewhere). After one week usage, I have to say, I agree with Mr. Grindell ... although I do not have troubles with turbo head (simply because I don't have it), butI confirm problems with hose and "air path splitting" ...Hose miss rotational connection to main body (as most vac.cleaners has), so it knots very easy.In consequention of air path splitting a lot of hairs + dust stays glued electrostatically in upper part of chamber and if opened, it jumps immediately into rubber sealing groove, from where it is really very difficult to remove.Until now I didn't recognize a lot of dust on MEMA filter, so cyclone works ok, although a look into vortex chamber tells me, it's only a question of time it will need to disassemble and clean. Sincethere is no howto for this procedure in User manual, I have such a feeling, Dyson likes to earn some extra money from my pocket ... so I save for paper sacks, but have to pay twice more, if I visit serviceman for cleaning ... and quarantine period is only 2 years out of UK.

Dyson vac is brill!
I have never written a review but for all the hoover searchers I hope this will help. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before buying but found the dyson cylinder to be the only hoover that met all my criteria. It is a marvellous sucker and greatly reduces my hoovering time, which is now an effortless and even enjoyable everyday task. I find the floor piece and all the attachments marvellous, so easy to clip on/off and the main foot is great for both hard and carpetted floors and changes at the flick of the foot switch to suit both, the edge to edge cleaning performance is great. It is very hassle free to empty and is done in a flash, not at all messy. The handle is easy to manoeuvre and the fact it needs no bags or filters is a real bonus. The 5 year guarantee goes a long way to increase confidence and I have heard from others that dyson are quick and hassle free if any help or repairs are needed. I had a vax wash n dry cylinder before, and although I found the dysons manoeuverability not quite as good initially, i am getting used to it. The cable is not quite as long as I had hoped for, but they are minor points compared to the pleasure this machine has brought to what was otherwise a monotonous chore.

The best vacum cleaner
I think it is fantastic. In the beggining when I did not have the special appliance for carpet was useless, but when i got it, I can see my work to clean all my house it is really easy. Thank you for dyson!!!!!

Absolutely Dreadful!
Let me put in detail what we found with this... machine. The head design is very problematic. It became blocked very often; sometimes some 2 or 3 times in twenty minutes. The mechanical suspension for the rotating brush is based on losely coupled plastic parts, and if the head is ever blocked for long, parts of this plastic mount MELT and the result is a mixture of dirt and melted plastic welding the two parts together. Our experience was tht after two months of careful use, the turbo head was completely unusable. From this point it gets much worse. The hose is fairly stout, and the straight section of pipe that connects the head to the hose is made up from three telescopic segments that have latches (to stop it from telescoping). The latches broke after a few days, and as a consequence, the pipe as such is completely unusable. The connection of the hose to the main body of the machine is good, but the air path splits into two very thin sections before it reaches the vortex chambers, and each path has a very small cross sectional area - some six square centimetres each, and NOT particularly curved... there are many sharp edges; and these allow rubbish to block these apertures easily. They are very difficult to clear out.The worst of all is the actual vortex chamber, a dual design. The levers that release the bottom of these chambers is easily confused with the release lever for the whole chamber. It means that little kids can readily flick this lever in a moment and dump the entire contents of the chambers all over the floor. And cleaning it is very difficult indeed; ironically it doesn't completely disassemble, and accumulates dirt very quickly, particularly at the top, where the air flow comes in. It can take a long time to poke around and extract various bits of rubbish from this narrow space. But in any case, the whole idea of these chambers is that filters are not necessary; the length of the vortex filiaments (the streams of turbulent air) is probably in excess of the actual chamber length, so in fact dirt passes in great quantity to the actual filters. And of course, these are very small, and clog up fearfuly quickly. The original concept of the Dyson cleaner was truly visionary; we would have been lost without our original; but this model is an example of truly awful engineering design. It DESPERATELY needs to be re-engineered.
