I am not using anything. This is excellant wood for any water environment as it is used on a lot of sale boats. Some do suggest a teak oil however. You could goggle best care for teak. Hope this helps

The seat stays Down. Get up and down as often as you want. There are no springs to change position until you tip it upward. Fingers are safe. Wood is teak...works well in wet areas with no extra work on your behalf.

2-5/8" at the top and 3" at the bottom - measured. The seat folds up past vertical.

Q: What is the horizontal center to center distance between the mounting holes?

center to center is 16 inches and they provide nice stainless steel screwsI looked at a few....this is a well made product
