Great value for the price
UPDATE:I owned a simple Canon bubblejet printer for many years before it broke down. Needless to say, I wanted another Canon as my next printer. The printer was not used heavily and after 2 years, frequently had paper jams. One day it got the error 5110 (just google this error number appended to "canon pixma" and you'll see the number of problems.) According to Canon, this error cannot be fixed in a cost effective way and I need to buy a new one. I will not be buying another Canon. I want to change my review to a 1 star, but Amazon won't let me since I had given it a 4 star review a year ago.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I like to wait a year before writing a review because it's more comprehensive and accurate. I am very satisfied with this printer. It's easy to use and works great. I have used this printer to print pictures and documents and it performs great. I use the the ink-saving features and like the flexibility. I have been using Canon printers since 1993 and I think they are very durable. My last one (finally) died on me after 14 years of use!!As with all printers, the cartridges are expensive and hence my 4 stars rather than 5 stars.

Great photo and color printer
The Canon Pixma iP4300 Photo Printer is as good as it gets. I've had this printer for about a month and absolutely love it!! The ip4300 replaces a 6 year old Epson EX750 which was okay but not nearly as good as the Canon.Value: At the time of purchase, there was a $20 instant rebate from Canon which Amazon then sold for $79.99 plus free shipping (over $25). I ordered two printers, one for myself and one for my daughter). The printer comes with a retail ink value of $74. There was a negative review on this printer because of ink costs. The reviewer did not do his homework. The replacement ink costs about $14 for 13ML color and $17 for 26ML black. Check out what you pay for 5ML of HP ink or Epson. There is no comparison. Canon has them all beat. Canon says that it costs about 29 cents to print a 4x6 photo which includes the cost of ink and the higher rated Canon photo paper. Besides, if you are going to get a free printer from a company, I would think the company should make some profit on the ink. DUH!!Quality: The photo prints are just simply outstanding. With the Canon photo paper plus, the photoes are of professional grade. And the printer comes with automatic duplexing. Are you serious? Conclusion: This is the best value stand alone printer on the market today if you can find one. If you want a scanner, buy a dedicated one and you will find the results are superior.

DOA Printer and Unresponsive Seller
This printer was essentially dead on arrival. It powered up long enough for me to install the print head and ink cartridges, then spontaneously powered off and would not turn back on. I requested and received a return authorization from the seller, TheUniqueStoreNV, shipped the printer back (at my expense as the seller did not cover return shipping) via UPS. UPS delivered the printer to the seller on 7/13, but as of this writing (7/26/17), the seller has neither responded to my request for refund status nor refunded the purchase price. Please note that this review does not reflect my experience with Canon iP4300 printers in general. This purchase was to replace my 10-year-old iP4300, which had died but had been the best printer I've ever owned. I ordered the "new" iP4300 in hopes of being able to use my considerable supply of Canon ink cartridges and the new print head I'd previously purchased in hopes of keeping the old printer going.

After 7 months - belly up
I bought this printer based on its good reviews. It does print beautiful photos BUT I haven't used it that hard for it to have failed so soon. Canon said they will send me a factory refurbished replacement for the body only. The problem began with a squeak in the rollers and yesterday it would not feed the paper properly. After several attempts to get it working per the instructions in the manual I contacted Canon. They ran me through a test with the machine after which they said the only thing they would do is send the replacement body.

Not as good as the iP4000
I guess I am fortunate in having both units to compare. While the build quality of the iP4300 seems equal to the iP4000 the photo quality is not. Outdoor photos seem comparable when printed through each printer, but indoor shots under tungsten lighting are very different. The iP4000 consistently produces pleasing and accurate flesh tones whereas the iP4300 consistently produces flesh tones with a definite pink unnatural quality. Using my Canon A630 I made sure the histogram was accurate for the photos I was testing and tried direct print from the camera. They produced consistenly inaccurate flesh tones only on the iP4300 and not the iP4000. Using several different brands and types of photo paper produced the same poor results.Transferring the photos to the computer and editing with the Canon software I was unable to correct the poor flesh tones in the printout on the iP4300 although it looked perfect on a properly calibrated monitor and printed perfectly on the iP4000. Switching over to Adobe Photoshop 6.0 I did the same color correction and obtained the same poor results on the iP4300 yet perfect results on the iP4000.This was the SECOND iP4300. I exchanged the first one thinking that it may have just been my particular unit. Amazon was GREAT when it came to the exchange. Unfortunately the second unit produced the same results as the first. Rather than return it I will use the iP4300 for outdoor photos and the iP4000 for indoor photos.
