My choice for my daily salads
I've been using this food container off-and-on now for over a year. After considering many different containers for my daily salad I settled on this one. Plastic is flimsy and I didn't like the idea that some plastics can stain or leach into your food. Glass is way too heavy, and it's also bulky compared to the amount you can put into it. This container is light, it holds a lot, and it's a snap to clean. It's a cinch to open and close up, and best of all I like eating my salads out of it. As for rust -- I've used mine for over a year and I don't see a speck of rust. The latches are still as good as ever, and the entire container looks the way it did when I received it. You will note that this container is not leak-proof. It does make a tight seal. Even after a year I notice a slight "vacuumy" drag when I open it. However, if you put water in it and hold it upside down it's going to leak. Some people have warned that the edges are sharp, which is only partially true. The first time I washed mine I was startled by how deeply the edges bit into my skin, but the edge was thin -- not really sharp -- and I didn't cut myself. After that first time I've never had a problem. All-in-all, if you're looking for a take-along food container for solid food, and you want something that's easy to clean and built to last, I think you'll like this little metal lunch container. Mine has served me well. 5 stars.

Perfect for leftovers!
I am a habitually late person, and I am habitually poor as well: two things that make weekday lunches a real pain for me. I either don't give myself enough time to make a sandwich in the mornings, or I spend around $10 a day to grab something to eat. The New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Food Container solves this problem for me. It's perfect for storing leftover dinners, so that come morning when I am hustling out the door, all I need to do is remember that I have packed my lunch already! It's functional, and furthermore, quite trendy. I can't help but hold both pinkies up while I am eating out of my "fancy tupperware" (what my boss calls it). The best thing about this product, is that my dogs can't eat it. My dogs have a nasty habit of eating all of my tupperware, but this has proved to be virtually indestructible.Furthermore, a huge concern with food storage containers and tupperware, is that the lids always seem to fall off, leaving me with a messy lunchbox and an empty stomach, but alas... the New Wave SS Food Container has solved this problem as well. The lid always stays on, and its compact enough to fit into my purse or lunch bag. It also helps me moderate my portions as well, leaving me feeling much better about my healthy, convenient lunch.

Maybe for a not hungry toddler?
So small as to be unusable. Yes. I did measure before ordering. Well made, sturdy and minuscule.

Decent container
I bought two of these to use for transporting my lunch to work. They work really well. The lids snap on and the latches keep them secure but not water tight. I don't take liquids for lunch usually just meat and veggies so it works well for me but if you plan on taking soups or liquid lunches then you'll probably want to look for something different.

Good for more than lunches
Besides using my New Wave container for lunches and snacks, I freeze ready made hamburger and turkey burgers patties in them. It will hold a turkey theigh or a rib eye steak or two depending on thickness, and keeps them very well. I put a double layer of waxed papper in between so that I can remove one at a time. Sure beats putting them in plastic and they won't fit in my glass freezer jars.As for not being liquid proof, no one ever promised that. If they had the seal necessary to be liquid proof, you couldn't wash the lids in the dishwasher and the silicone seal would probably eventually come loose. Amazon sells other containers that would work with liquids if that is what your need. This is the biggest, nicest container for the money. I have four of them and stick by my 5 star rating. I don't find them to be sharp as some have said. It is not a rolled edge, but it is not sharp. One lady said that she brings hers to the restaurant with her to take home leftovers. I thought that was a great idea. I hate those styrofoam containers and what they can leach into my food.I only wish that I could get them larger to put larger cuts of meat in the freezer. Maybe one day they will make them larger, when they realize that people are not just using them for lunches.

It rusted...
I'm a fan of stainless steel food containers and expected to like the ones I ordered by New Wave Enviro. They look exactly like ones my sister has used for years that have reliably stored foods in the fridge and on the go. Unfortunately, after I used one of these containers only twice (both times for cooked meat) the container has rusted on the interior in several spots. I wash dishes by hand with Seventh Generation dish soap and I don't use harsh powders or scrubbies. I'm mystified this container degraded so quickly.I can only assume quality control at New Wave Enviro has gone downhill and that poor quality stainless steel is now being used. I remain a fan of the idea of stainless steel food containers, but this particular one is unfit to hold food safely. Big disappointment. I urge anyone seeking stainless steel food containers to try a different brand.

decent container watch out for the edge
It is a large container and will fit a decent sandwich or salad however its not as well made as the other ones I got. The edges on this container does not have a rolled edge and is not polished enough so you have to be careful. I can see potential in cutting yourself on the edge if you hit it at the wrong angle. Was going to give it to the kids to use as a lunch container but will be using it myself since I don't want any accidents to happen.
