Excellent results. Bravo!!
Excellent WiFi adapter! Pulling in over 20 WiFi Hotspots and is working with my Repeater flawlessly. A great product. Just remember not to use the included cd to install any drivers. The cd is Not for the AWUS036NHR v2. Don't install the drivers for the NHR. It will not work and you will not be happy. Go to the Alfa website and install the drivers from their link. Alfa should have thought this out better and not included this cd, or at least should have included the drivers for the included adapter, as it is confusing many users who are not getting the results they should. They are usually installing the drivers designated for the NHR adapter which will not work as per the Alfa website.

So far, so good
I am not wifi guru. I had a previous, g, b Alfa model on my old XP laptop which still works, but has no driver for windows 7.So I got this one, version 2. Some forums out there say this is just a cheaper corner cutted version of version 1.Anyway my W7 Dell laptop internal wifi card was having issues from day one, and required delicate positioning to hold a signal and would still just drop out requiring a disconnecting reconnecting sequence which was annoying whilst streaming movies and other times too. Responsible for many a cursing fit.Now am getting 5 bars, am seeing a dozen more networks, and some networks which I was aware of but only seen rarely previously, are now coming in with 4 to 5 bars.Despite the stronger signal, the laptop is still deciding to do what it did with the internal wifi card, Now it becomes unresponsive with 5 of 5 bars. I think it is the laptop or the router I am connecting to. not my speciality, but I was hoping this device would solve my issues, but it appears they will continue. Some forums say that the power drops off with age with the V2 model. I'll report back if I notice it attenuating. My old b,g alfa made some noise. This one seems silent so far.My old b,g alfa came with Y splitter USB cable. This one did not. A USB cable yes, no splitter.I wonder if I use my old cable and hook one of the ends to a 2.1 amp USB plug, if it will work better, as I know my laptop can provide no more than 0.5 amps through a single port.I was expecting to have to download the latest drivers from Alfa and a bunch of hair pulling, cursing up a storm nonsense to get it to work, but basically just popped the CD disc in, followed the directions on the screen, not the provided "quick start" guide, and it just worked.Well, time will tell.Wish I was more savvy in these matters to give a better review

Viva La free WiFi for everyone
I bought the Alfa 2W booster network adapter along with the 20bBi 2.4GHz panel antenna by Tupavco and 26' of Trendnet lowloss cable (see other reviews for full specs) and what a huge difference it made. My mom who has small fixed income, as well as living in a rural area went from a couple of wireless weak signals available to a page worth of viable signals. Even the best "free" WiFi that she have been accessing had only 2 bars and bad connection problems, but now she has a full signal, and speed is good enough to play YouTube videos. Looking at getting a the Alfa repeater so that the Roku attached to the TV can be used.

Not very powerful, terrible Mac drivers
It's only slightly more sensitive and powerful than my MacBook Pro's card, and I tried both the stock 5 dBi and an 8 dBi antenna. The included driver disc is worthless. You have to hunt down a working driver on their terrible website. The WLAN utility icon and menu isn't at all usable with the 10.11 dark menu bar at all. And, there are zero options. At least the driver comes with an uninstaller.

Kali Testing against a TP-LINK TL-WN722N
I benchmarked this card against a slightly faulty TP-LINK TL-WN722N (randomly disconnects, otherwise works fine) using Kali Linux on a Virtualbox 5.0 VM with the USB 2.0 passthrough driver. I used the TP-LINK 8db antenna for both tests. Using all the proper tweaks I was able to see 21 APs in my area after sitting for 10 minutes. Using the same antenna on the TL-WN722N under the same exact same conditions I was only able to see 10 APs. Works excellent for everything else you'd need it for too. Oh yeah, and it doesn't randomly disconnect which is the most incredible feature of all.

Not Impressed
I did not buy this from Amazon. I bought this from Alfa authorized dealer Rockland Technology in Florida for half the price. I installed this adapter yesterday afternoon and am not very impressed. I didn't know that I had to uninstall my drivers for my Intel WiFi. However I did follow the instructions and went ahead with this installation. I tested this on my neighbors WiFi and the improvement was negligible. My original WiFi reading was 2 bars and unstable. Using this adapter I have 4 unstable bars. My neighbors speed is 13 meg, but my best reading was less then 6 meg and the lowest 1 meg. Every speed test was different. Then I went to turn off the WiFi and go back to my LAN only to discover that the WiFi button no longer worked. The WiFi is now always on but not connected. The software also was set to automatically connect to this WiFi. I found that I had to go to the WiFi connection and go to properties and then the first tab and uncheck the auto connect feature. I am not impressed especially with the performance. I should point out that my neighbors house is only roughly 225 feet from me. My neighbor doesn't use WiFi but AT&T kept pestering so my neighbor went ahead with the upgrade. She got ripped off. I did search for powerful WiFi systems but they were well over $300. Guess you get what you pay for.

it seems to be a good product.
Took a long time (over a month ) to get a response from the manufacture on a software update so I could get it to work. Now work, it seems to be a good product.

I couldn't be happier. Once I downloaded the correct driver from the website (horrible designed website download portal) this adapter worked perfectly. I get a 99% signal in the next building over from where the nearest AP is located. When I connect this adapter it automatically launches the app and connects to my network. I haven't need to upgrade the antenna at all for my purposes. The suction cup mount that comes with the adapter holds on nicely to the lid of my laptop when I am using my computer.
