Bare-Tool Panasonic EY4542XM 14-2/5-Volt Li-Ion Multi Purpose Metal Cutter

I've been using Panasonic's 14.4v Li-Ion line for 3 years now and I love all their tools!! This Multi Purpose is no different. I am a professional garage door installer for a living and work with metal a lot. Using the included metal blade this saw performs remarkably well cutting through track, sections, chain, 1x1 angle and 2x2 angle, even 1" solid shaft!! Don't let the 14.4v scare you away as Panasonic's 14.4v Li-Ion line is stronger than most 18v lines other tool providers make. I can just as easily switch to a thin fine tooth metal blade and cut siding, pole barn steel, j channel and aluminum cleanly and quickly. I also can switch to a wood blade and it still cuts just as nicely. I've had this saw for a year now and I put it through good use EVERY day. It is still just as strong. It has an led light on it which is nice when cutting in a dark or shadowy garage. My ONLY complaint about it is that the blade does not bevel to the side so I can cut 45 degree angles when putting trim on colonial corner garages. This is an Awesome saw for all wood applications.This saw is very lightweight, accurate and a dream to use. Blade changes are easy and the allen wrench is stored on the saw itself. The arbor lock makes changing the blade a breeze. Sawdust removal is simple and well thought out. Overall an excellent product. Though no battery or charger was included; an outstanding storage/carrying case was part of the package.I had previously purchased a Panasonic Drill and Impact Driver Li-ion and it came with two batteries and the charger. It also included an offer for a free Li-ion batter which I collected and now use for this saw.

Great Screamer for cutting conduit, strut, panduit and anything an electrician needs to cut. I use the finer blade on plastic and cuts smooth.

Simply the BEST there is. First off, Panasonic is the LEADER in powertools... not dewalt, makita, or ryobi... panasonic. Don't let the 14volts fool you... the voltage means nothing in a power tool... whats most important is battery capacity... more capacity=more power....First the saw: this is THE REAL DEAL... yeah I know.. you might be thinking 'its only got 14 volts'... again it doesnt matter. the saw is BESUTIFULLY made and balanced.. its light.. and it cuts like a BOSS. The metal blade it comes with takes out metal pipe with ease... pvc pipe, abs pipe, metal rebar, metal studs, metal fencing.. you name it.. WAY faster and nicer than using a sawzall... I havent even tried using a proper WOOD blade on this because the metal blade cuts right through 2x4s with ease.. I can deduce that this thing flys through wood with a proper wood blade...the dust collection system is fantastic..... and best of all this saw IS MADE IN JAPAN. Yep: JAPAN. Try getting that these days! So you are getting the BEST you can get... the fit and finish are felt right out of the box... forget about these 20volt $79 portable sawz you see in the big box stores... this one is for the pros.. for REAL. Also -- its IP56 rated. What does that mean? It means its basically dust and water-proof. This standard has YET to reach the other American market saws you see in the big box stores. You can run the saw completely submerged in water. I am a professional contractor. Unlike most of the other reviewers, I do not use this tool for metal as I am a carpenter. This saw is light weight with good speed and power. The light is also a great feature. This tool is primarily set up for cutting metal. However, it is easy to modify. I removed the plastic shield on the front and cut a notch up the sides with a Dremel tool to give a better line of site to the blade. When cutting wood, the shield gets dusty due to static and is tough to see through. Also, I elected to make the opening on the sole plate slightly wider at the very point where the front of the blade passes by to give a better line of sight. This may sound confusing but once you use the tool you will see what I mean and what needs to be trimmed to see better. The round port of the back of the dust guard (once you un-clip the cover) is the only one on the market to allow easily connecting a Festool (or other) vacuum to for some dust reduced cuts inside a home. This tool is truly a pleasure to use, as are the Impact driver, Drill, and Jigsaw I own that Panasonic also makes.
