My wife loves it, I merely like it.It sometimes flies in a boring circle around and around, looking very unnatural, but if there is a slight breeze it will sometimes pause, hover, and go backwards a little before continuing on around. This looks more natural. It also seems to help if you plant the stake a little at a (tiny) angle so it has to go slightly uphill part way around the circle. This will also generate more natural looking motion.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but these butterflies are ao cute! They have to be in direct sun if you are using it without the batteries. And the nightlight function is great for our flowerbed, too.

Very realistic. The post and solar panel seen pretty sturdy, and the butterfly is realistic. Works well. My complaint is that replacement butterflies & wires are unobtainable- and that is what breaks easily; another flaw is that the pole should be taller, so the butterfly can hover over small flowers and not get caught up in them. The color of the insect does bleach out eventually from the sun, and I have had a couple of wires break- from deer nipping them or the wind I do not know.From a distance this is very realistic, and in my front yard flower garden they are eye-catching. Have had several compliments from neighbors.

I bought this to replace one that I had for about 2-3 years and suddenly stopped working. I did some comparison shopping before I bought it and found several people were not happy with it because some just wouldn't work at all.I was a bit leery of buying this but, for the price, I thought I'd take a chance. I wanted the replacement because my granddaughter and other neighbor kids loved to watch it.Anyhow, the one I got works but sporadically. Mostly it flutters but sometimes it just won't move even in bright direct sunlight.I don't see why it's not as good as my first one as I believe it's the same exact thing. I'm guessing the manufacturer is trying to save some money and brought the quality down.For the money, I guess it's worth it as long as it does work more than not.

Every picture shows a red butterfly. I thought I was ordering 3 red butterflies. I was so excited when the Amazon truck pulled up, and couldn't wait to unbox my three beautiful red butterflies. Naturally, you could understand my dismay when instead I opened up the box and found 3 YELLOW butterflies. I went back to the listing, and it did say “assorted colors, randomly picked”. My bad? Maybe. Were there any pictures of other colors? No. Just red. And, to beat a dead horse, my “randomly picked” assortment was 3 yellow butterflies. All three. Whoever picked those, should have played the lottery that day.Note to seller.. take a few pics of the “random colors”, so we don’t think you’re trying to scam us. Just sayin.Also, and probably more importantly, THEY. DON’T. WORK. None of them. All three of the YELLOW not RED butterflies do not work. That might be a problem for some buyers, IDK.I’ll be sending the defunct yellow butterflies back ASAP.

This is so much fun. I selected the butterfly design and it works perfectly in the bright sun on my container-plant filled terrace. My cat is so curious because the movement is so life-like! As an item it is hugely overpriced, make no mistake. The plastic parts are cheap and we'll have to wait an see how long it lasts, but - out of the box, it's GREAT!

Still fluttering in the sun. I bought to replace one that had been out on my deck for several years, but was damaged when I moved. These must be placed in full sunlight and must be level to revolve properly. As I live where there are strong winds which interfere with the rotation, I ended up putting it in a protected area out if the wind. It is near my kitchen window and only gets morning sun. It amuses me every morning when I fix breakfast and see it fluttering in the sunlight. As long as it is placed in direct sun and kept level it will last a long time. This one is going strong for 16 months. I attached mine to top of a wine bottle so it can be moved to picnic table or wherever the sun shines. I would not recommend to cat owners. I think cats would chase and catch it.

Out of the box these things seem to work for a month or two than they slow down and eventually flop around. They are cheap enough that I treat then disposable toys but one would be luck if they lasted an entire season. To be effective the motor must spin rapidly but because of poor quality control or poor product design they slow and spin in a circle until they stop. I have had at least a dozen and the failure rate is 100% predictable. Like my annual flowers they are pretty for one season but they rarely return.
