Then I would use the shoe polish -- which will probably need a second coat. All of this depends on how deep the peeling leather is. If the peeling leather is a flat piece, you might be able to glue it down. I don't know what kind of glue that would be, but I'm sure the shoe cobbler could tell you. Best of luck to you.
