is 9/16 the inner or outer width of the staple?

9/16" is the inner dimension, it's 3/4 on the outside

Trying to figure out gauge for use in a staple gun. How do these compare to a 16 gauge staple? Smaller or larger?

These are huge. I used them to run 12 and 14 gauge wire in my garage and probably could have ran a third 14 gauge wire.

What does 100 pk means if i buy this?

Sorry Kevin Kelly - you missed on that answer. The PK in the product description just means pack - as in 100 pack (containing 100 items) or 500 pack. PK nails are, as you say, a special nail used in wood hubs or asphalt by surveyors to mark property corners and such, typically driven into 2x2 hardwood corner stakes. Have a center punched dimple to mark the exact surveyed point. Commonly replaced by MagNails today, which are flat-topped, have a more pronounced dimple, and are magnetically enhanced to make finding them with a metal detector easier.

Can these work with chicken wire fence?

They will work but it's kind of overkill,they are very large for chicken wire.
