Bob's Red MillWhite Corn Grits, 24oz (Pack of 1) - Vegan, Kosher

After finding out that Quaker was using GMO produce for its products, I looked to Bob's Red Mill for a non-GMO alternative and found that Bob's makes quick grits too. Some mornings, cooking grits for a 1/2 hour is just too long for some members of my family. (Yes, I do old school grits as well).These are creamy, like old school grits properly cooked, and don't have the somewhat gritty texture of the Quaker Quick Grits. And they DO cook w/in 5 minutes. And taste great. The corn flavor is there w/o being like eating a cob of corn. Definitely a great side with eggs and bacon, or with cheddar cheese and shrimp.

These are delicious grits! I know some people have been snobs about them and say “oh grits are gross and so plain.” Don’t you know just like my husband, until I made him some! I offered him some and he told me that they were disgusting, he didn’t know how people ate them and that I was crazy. So I said let me make them my way, And you just give them a try. So I made a double batch because we know he wasn’t just gonna have one spoonful. An unmeasured amount of grits later, stick of butter and 5 cups of water they were done.(It’s always hit or miss with amounts. If you measure grits than you’re not eating for pleasure- you’re eating for the Great Depression. Even then this still a great deal!) Salt, pepper and three eggs over easy and he was a happy man and full enough to not bother me about lunch and I almost got out of dinner. Nothing like the stomach cement of the south! Honestly though, but these. You won’t regret it. Unless you like eating 4 times before lunch.

I am giving these four stars because they increased the price of the grits and it was very saddening. You can't find grits anywhere in town on in major cities for some reason. Well, not these type of grits. This is about as old fashion as they will get and they are the best kind.

I have never been a fan of grits until I had cheesy ones matched with shrimp in the Big Easy. Pretty handy in the kitchen, I found a really good recipe that also uses my instant pot. I bought this brand mostly because it fit the closest to the recipe. So glad I did. Haven’t had a texture fail yet. Left the Southern climes and these aren’t readily available. Amazon to the rescue. Will keep on hand for when the shrimp and grits bug bites.

It's the real deal in grits not like the other brands claim to be.

Throw away your Quaker sawdust and don’t look back.
