Earth's Best Listened and the Wipes Are Back (Amazon isn't quite caught up yet though)!
*UPDATE* So Amazon's stock is still not current with the latest version of these wipes. So even though we know Earth's Best made this 3rd better wipe, if you order you'll receive the terrible #2 wipe. No telling when Amazon will either get rid of the old stock or finally get the newest product. *Ok everyone! There has been a mass dumping (pun intended) of Earth's Best wipes recently after they changed the formula and composition of their wipes. As is evidenced by these reviews, everyone hated them. I personally went to the Earth's Best website and complained and submitted a review staring all the things I disliked and that I would no longer be using them. I didn't expect anything but in a few weeks a package arrived on my doorstep from Hain Celestial with a letter and a sample of....the new wipes....that I told them I hated.....saying they received my complaint and wanted me to try their new wipes! Hunh??? I was a bit confused, thinking they hadn't properly read my complaint, I didn't like the new wipes! I assumed that they weren't listening to their customers, their loss.Well two weeks later I got another package from them in the mail with a new letter from the director of marketing apologizing for the mistake. (Mommy brain moment she said, and I can totally relate! No harm no foul.). She meant to send a third reformulated version that addressed my concerns. Included in this package were a few packages of this third, reformulated wipe that the rep said is closer to the original 'yellow package' wipes everyone loved. So now I have all three formulas in front of me and I wanted to share what they are like so you can decide what to do!#1- Old Faithful(Yellow package) - Is first in all the photos. Thick, soft, gentle, sufficiently wet, mild scent, gentle ingredients. The one we all loved.#2- Flip Top - Is 2nd in all photos. The one we all hated, and what made us ditch these wipes. They are super thin, scratchy(compared to the yellow package), astringent chemical smell, dry, smaller. Also you could not fold these in half even to make it thicker. The old wipes is often fold in half on messy jobs, never had a problem wiping. These new ones would slip on itself if I tried to wipe folded and make an even bigger mess than I had in the first place, eew. The ingredient list had also completely changed. Tons of new chemicals, no more vitamin e. All bad things when it comes to wiping your precious babies bum. There was no saving grace for this formulation of the wipe. They are all around terrible. Thankfully it seems this one is gone for good, I hope.#3- Back to the Original, Sort Of - These are 3rd in all photos. So comparing to the original, here goes the in depth review:Size: They are bigger than the 2nd version and actually ever so slightly bigger than the original yellow wipes!Thickness: Almost the same. I stretched the wipes a little to compare, I feel like the newest wipes pulled apart a tiny bit more than the old yellow ones, but still held up fairly well.Smell: Very similar to the old, not so chemicalSoftness: Exactly he same, very soft and gentleMoisture: Very moist, I can't tell a difference between the twoFold ability: The same as the original!Ingredients: So this is completely different from either previous formula and the biggest difference from the original yellow wipes that I can tell. Water aloe and rice extract are the top three ingredients. In some ways I think this is better than the yellow formula, more moisturizing ingredients. Some ingredients I'm not sure of the function. I've included a shot of the ingredients list. The concerning ingredient for me is dimethicone copolyol. It is a silicone derivative that creates a barrier on skin to keep moisture in. It seems totally unnecessary to me. All ingredients are basically replacing something in the original formula. There's water, a bunch of skin conditioning things, citri acid to control pH, dimethicone, and preservatives. Noticeably lacking is any type of surfactant or cleansing agent that I can find. I'm not sure how this will effect the wipes, but I honestly don't notice a difference in cleaning power. They clean as well as the yellow ones in my opinion. Long term it remains to be seen if these are still gentle on baby's skin and don't cause any issues or reactions but so far it seems good.Packaging: This third iteration also has a different closure. I think it is an improvement on both previous closures. 1st version, Yellow package, was flimsy and prone to pulling all there way off or tearing, and didn't provide a complete seal every time, especially if the package was crumpled. The 2nd version had a hard plastic piece attached that worked better, but could easily come undone when stuffed into a bag of the lip caught on something else. The 3rd version has a flap similar to the 1st but made of much sturdier plastic that doesn't bend, it is very stuff. It will hold up muh better than the yellow package closure and seals completely every time. It won't become misshapen as the package empties or even if the bag crumples. The only real improvement I can see on the original wipes. All in all, these wipes are very close to the original, if I try really hard I can spot small differences in the smell and thickness, but in practical use, I don't really notice them. I'm giving 4 stars because I really don't like the addition of the dimethicone. If they'd keep it simple and more natural I could give these 5 stars again. It seems to work well in my opinion however so pending any skin issues that may come up, I am planning to use these wipes again. I am also glad that the customer service listened to all of us and gave us back the things we wanted in our wipes. From what I can tell the photo for these wipes on Amazon is for the 3rd formulation, so hopefully that means they have removed those dreadful 2nd formula wipes and if you order, you should have the 'fixed' wipes that are very close to the original.Boy don't come between a parent and their baby wipes hunh!! It's a messy business'. Happy wiping everyone!

Everyone HATES the new wipes. Now what?
New Review:Well well. I loved these wipes so much I wrote a glowing review - I forgot about this. But things have changed and I am updating my review. I think we can all agree that the new product is not improved. In fact, it sucks. I am giving the new Earths Best wipes 2 stars because it could be worse. I can use these in a pinch. But I have been on the search for new wipes for several months. I have two kids in diapers so I have had plenty of opportunity to test some other brands out.I'm a bit obsessed about chemicals, and especially so about products for my kids, so I first turned to the Environmental Working Group: (ewg.org) to suggest some brands of baby wipes. If you go to the cosmetics section of that site, you can just type in a chemical name and when you click on the chemical it tells you the purpose it serves in a product, potential hazards, and then lists research studies, or shows a lack thereof. The database also notes what other countries have banned chemicals or restricted their use, in case you don't have full faith in the FDA. Anyway, some brands are already in the EWG database, so I started there, and ordered, from Amazon, some with the least toxic ingredients:We tried Babyganics (http://www.amazon.com/Babyganics-Wipes-Fragrance-Contains-100-Count/dp/B0042RJR74/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&srs=8514636011&ie=UTF8&qid=1455731879&sr=8-1-catcorr&keywords=babyganics+wipes); These get good reviews but I don't like the way they smell. We tried Waterwipes(http://www.amazon.com/WaterWipes-Value-Wipes-packs-Count/dp/B00INOM4X6/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1455731907&sr=1-1&keywords=waterwipes); They are very heavy. Seriously, they are VERY heavy for traveling. Also, they feel cold, and my boys hate them.Next I went back to the new Earths Best wipes for an order; I had seen that everyone hated the new formulation and I didn't even give them a try. But I did eventually try them, and yes, I was disappointed, especially in regard to what they used to be.I trolled Amazon reviews to get some more ideas, and I got some Honest wipes at Target (because the price on Amazon is OUTRAGEOUS). They are great. We really like them. They aren't quite as wet/sudsy as the old Earths Best, but they are good. They don't have any crappy chemicals in them. If you want to try them, check the price on the Honest website - it was the same price I paid at Target (about $5/pack). But I wanted these delivered monthly with my diapers and other subscribe and save items, so finally I tried:Amazon's wipes (http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Elements-Wipes-Sensitive-Flip-Top/dp/B00M4M2W1W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1455732115&sr=8-2&keywords=amazon+wipes). They are good. Product-wise they are nearly neck and neck with the Honest wipes. They do contain phenoxyethanol, a preservative that I'm not wild about, but it's not a dealbreaker for us. They are less than 1/3 the cost of the Honest wipes. Honest wipes are 6.6 cents/each. The subscribe and save price for the Amazon wipes is 1.9 cents/each. So - try the Amazon wipes.Old review:I bought a selection of paraben free chlorine free baby wipes before our baby was born - thinking maybe he would have a preference? He does not. But I do - and these are the clear winner. 7th Generation were too dry, and Bumboosa (my second choice) are kind of small and thin and it's hard to get just one wipe at a time. These are thick, unscented, they have the right amount of moisture, and come out of the container one at a time. This pack of 12 on amazon subscription makes them a great value. Thanks Earth's Best!
