Bear Witness to Murder (A Teddy Bear Mystery)

This was such a fun Halloween season cozy! It wasn't really much about Halloween until the end, but the bear festival was cool to read about. The author did a great job of instilling some extreme dislike for the woman named Holly who came to town with a store that was a rival to both Sasha's teddy bear store and her cousin Matt's bookstore.It had been almost three years since I read the first one (what made me wait so long I have no idea other than a constantly growing TBR!), so it took just a little bit to get reacquainted with the characters. I got a kick out of Aunt Eve and Uncle Ross bickering at one another. And for some odd reason, Sasha's mom was Flynn, Sasha's full-of-himself ex-husband's new number one fan. But Sasha had gotten close to a new guy, and I'm definitely on board for that, he's awesome! I was surprised at who the killer was, but the showdown was pretty exciting. I'm going to try not to let so much time pass before I read the next book.

This was a fun story about a town celebrating the fall holidays. Then a rather unlikeable person is murdered. The heroine, Sasha, is caught in the middle of all of the mayhem. Her nemesis, Holly, has moved back to town and is causing all kinds of havoc. Her ex-husband, that cheated on her has also moved into town and is trying to win her back. There is so much going on that you really get caught up in the story and don’t want to put the book down. I was disappointed that her mother kept trying to get her to go back to her cheating ex-husband. Why would any mother wish that on her child? But, except for that, I truly enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first one. One thing I didn't understand is why the mother is trying to force Sasha back with her cheating ex-husband. I was hoping that by the end the mother would side with Sasha, but it never happened. Otherwise, though, I really enjoyed the book. Looking forward to the next one!

The Cranbeary Tea Party & the Oktobear Fest start the holiday season. This year there's some added stress level due to a new owner & competition to the retail business. An old high school (mean Girl) rival has returned to town to open a gift and book shop, directly competing with the Silver Bear Shop and the local bookstore. Holly Parker enjoys causing drama where Sasha is concerned.To Sasha shock; Rosie her dog discovers Gina’s body outside in parking lot of the local eatery early the next morning with a knife in her back. We first think it's Holly, since she is dressed in Holly's clothing. Could she have been the true victim? The killer screwed up? Who was the real target? Gina? or Holly? Could Sasha's Ex husband Flynn be involved? What about the mayor? Sasha tries to resist on doing any sleuthing. When other incidents occur around town, Sasha believes that this is more than an old high school rivalry of jealous business owners. Sasha finds herself in a beary dangerous place as she tries to catch the killer and save the festival from getting ruin.This book had a mix of humor & mystery just like the debut novel. Sasha is trying to get her life back together following a divorce. She works hard at the family business. Sasha & Maddie have a good relationship & work together for the teddy bear factory. Their parents love their daughters. Like other readers, I don't understand why Sasha's mom wants her daughter to rekindle her relationship with her cheating, arrogant, control freak Ex Husband? He is a jerk & could have very well have started an affair again with the victim.The Oktobear Fest theme is so cute with the teddy bear theme. The mystery kept me reading to figure out the interesting twists and turns throughout the book. I definitely want to read more of these characters. That is why I am currently reading the "Wedding Blues"

Meg Macy has written another wonderful adventure in Silver Hollow with the Silverman family. Well written and hard to put down. I loved it.

I adored the first book in this series. But, oh my, this second book was very disappointing. All of the old high school rivalry storyline was tiresome. And the mother, what a horrible woman she turned out to be. I hope the third book in the series is better. I won't give up on the series just yet.
