Cricut Deep Cut Blade & Housing

Works great

I've been cutting materials about 1/8th of an inch thick with this blade. I find I have to use to multicut function to make sure there aren't any little spots that didn't get cut completely though. I also have found that the thicker materials need a little extra sticky to stay in place on the mat (makes sense, since you're cutting through more material at a time there will be more resistance). I just use some double sided sticky tape, and it works just fine.On a side note, it fits in the Cricut Cake machine, so if you just get the sticky mats you can use it to cut out papers/leather/foam board, whatever, instead of just cutting food items. I know Provo Craft says not to use the Cricut Cake for non food items, but they are full of crap. If you use a separate mat and blade, then NONE of your machine will come in contact with both your food items and your paper items. Besides, even if you used the same mats/blade, if you are making things out of paper that is SO toxic that a microscopic sliver or the residue of the dye could make you sick then maybe you should reconsider operating the machine in your house! I'm pretty sure anything that toxic would have to carry a warning label anyway... So as long as you aren't flavoring your coffee with scrapbooking glue, I sure you'll be fine. Provo Craft just stands to make MUCH more cash if you buy both a machine for both food items and paper products, so of course they'll say you shouldn't use it for both.

Glass and Wood Really Well

Item is just what I needed. I bought a Cricut Cake back in 2011 and never really used it for its original purpose. Read where I could use this item (deep cut housing and blade) to convert my Cricut Cake into a paper cutting machine. So far it has worked great!! It can be hard to find the older housings for the Cricut Expression (same as the Cake version but originally for paper). So, this was a great find! I also like that it was the metal housing as it appears some come as plastic housings.

I had gotten a cricut cake, and since I'm only using it for personal use and only decorate a cake maybe 3 times a year I wanted to get more use out of it by ordering a separate housing. I was glad to see this one is metal, as I remember reading some where that many of the blade housings for cricut were no longer metal and were now plastic and that the plastic ones did not work nearly as smoothly as the metal.Fits my cricut cake just fine and works perfect, I also bought a set of 45 degree blades (the one used for cardstock and other paper) and it also fits the deepcut housing just fine.

Works PERFECTLY on my dinosaur, Cricut Personal. :) I am able to cut firmer felt with a super sticky or taped down mat using setting 6 on my blade housing, speed set at 3 and pressure set at 5. Happy to be able to continue using my original cartridges I neglected to link to Design Space! Great purchase!

Love it! I have two old Cricut Expressions and the parts are becoming harder and harder to find. Just wish they had a cake blade housing!

Not happy at all, it was badly advertised. Paid a lot of money for something that is useless. Of course, I couldn't remember who I bought it from and so I didn't know who to return it too. Now it's to late. So I wasted money on something that was advertised to work on my cricut cutter and actually wasn't designed for it. It's for the older designs. Poorly advertised and I got screwed.
