Valley Farms Whole Sunflower Hearts for Birds (40 LB) No Mess Bird Seed for Outside Feeders, Attract Finches, Cardinals, & More Wild Birds, Very Clean Sunflower Seeds

Valley Farms sunflower hearts are very good and this is my third 40 Lbs bag.This time I was gladly surprised that even the packaging was amazing: they put paper in a rod shape at the center of the box to prevent cutting the bag when opening the box with a cutter (see photo).

Nice size, no waste

Happy birds and no yard waste. Seems to be well priced and even though shell-less is more expensive, seems to me that it’s more economical because every ounce is edible.

Feed birds. Finches, Capped chickadees, and nut hatches love the mix.A popular blend with my avian friends.

While I thought I was doing my cardinals a favor buying shelled seeds I think they like the other cheaper ones better.squirels went nuts for this

I used to buy sunflower hearts exactly like these from a neighborhood nursery, and those cost less than these from Valley Farms. Still, this is my best alternative now that the nursery has closed. The sunflower hearts are mostly whole. The birds love them for the no-effort eating, and I love them for the lack of mess under the feeder. I place them in a feeder that squirrels have trouble accessing because otherwise they'd be gone in an hour. Goldfinches in particular love these, although all songbirds and woodpeckers also visit.Long ago I decided that sunflower hearts were worth the extra expense since, as long as I can keep the squirrels and chipmunks away, the seeds take longer for the birds to consume. Shells don't take up space, so they get nothing but kernels in the feeder.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

We bought a 1.5 gallon feeder for our backyard. I am no expert but I have seen blue birds and what look like finches. We filled the feeder all the way to the top and the food lasted 1.5 days. The birds were obsessed. Other foods were no where near as popular. They ate this stuff up!!

I usually never write a review but wanted people to know the great customer service I received from Valley Farms. I received the wrong size of sunflower seeds, I took a picture of the package and sent it to customer service. I heard from them the next day and the correct package of seeds arrived the next day. Outstanding service! I had tried other sunflower seed companies but came back to Valley Farms. Their seeds are so superior, the old saying you get what you pay for is definitely true in this product.
