If you like ship models (and I do) then this model is outstanding. Was concerned about the size but turned out to be just right for a library table I had in mind for it. I do not want a case for it and was pleased to see they recommended cleaning it after arrival using compressed air (cans used for computers work great). It came very well packed but admit it was bit of a chore getting it out of the crate and set up. Had to call and find out that one of the instructions (about removing screws) no longer applied to recent packing. Before purchasing I had called their toll free number to ask questions and they were very helpful. Same with this issue. To find their website you need to google "old modern handicrafts" and under contact they have their toll free number. Oddly it is not on any of the material enclosed. They suggested having a friend help remove the model but I found it was easy enough to do by myself once I had both sides free to spread apart. Lots of bits of foam packing material once I had model free but found vacuumed with shop vac (other than model) just fine and wet towel picked up other small bits. I found I had to use a hammer (very carefully) in getting the crating loose in places and there are any number of sharp points on the crating material to be careful with. Unfortunately because of the way this was crated it would be difficult if not impossible to recrate it to move somewhere. I had hoped to do that for when my son wants this in his home. I may yet save the box since I have room and perhaps it could be recrated with modifications at some point. Overall I feel that this model is excellent value and can recommend it.

A very detailed and great looking ship. It's expensive, but worth every penny.It came packaged very securely. It took a better part of an afternoon just to remove it from the crate. UPS knocked it around a little as evidence by the dings and holes punched into the outside box. But because it was packed so well only one cannon and one of the three lanterns on the back of the ship were knocked off. I glued them back on using the included tube of glue.

Beautifully made wood and metal model ship. I have always wanted to own a model ship of this quality, so I am thrilled to have it in my home. It is located on my dining room table under the cover of cheesecloth to keep dust from settling on it.

Great model and very detailed.

The HMS Victory, one of the most iconic first-rate ship of the line vessels ever conceived. This model is a fitting tributary to the history of the real ship it represents. The detail is exquisite and meticulous. The rigging (mast lines and ropes) is complex, extensive, and a beautiful sight to behold. The sails are made of linen and fit well with the rest of the ship and the hull is smooth and evocative of high quality.There are a few gripes I have about this model however. A few of the flags that sit atop the masts feel and look cheap compared to the higher quality linen of the sails. The actual model (or at least the one I got) does not have a finish, stain, or wood lacquer as the picture on amazon shows, so there is no real shine as when compared to their photograph. The last minor complaint also resides with the fact that height measurement is not accurate; this ship is about 32" high, not 36.On the other hand the shipping crate did impress me. Inside the large cardboard box it comes with, the model is rigged with nylon straps to the base of a wooden cage built around the ship. The cage is very sturdy and took me about an hour to disassemble it to get the model out. A single cannon and the ship's rudder had fallen off the model in transport but it was an easy fix to glue both back into position. They even provide a small bottle of glue for said purpose, which I appreciated.I built a custom glass case for my model to keep the dust out. I do recommend this as cleaning this model in all its nooks and crannies would be a nightmare and using compressed air on such a delicate craft might have its risks with some of the more fragile details.Overall I am very impressed with this ship, it may be expensive but the likeness is of museum quality.

We just got our beautiful ship we could not believe how careful they were to ship it in wood frame we cannot wait to put it on our shelf. it is very beautiful very detailed very very well-made we are so happy we got the bluenose to ship it is absolutely beautiful
