I'd Buy It AGAIN!
Had to take the time to write a review on this one. EXCELLENT! We purchased 4 Osprey Porter 30 Liter bags for our recent 3 week trip from USA to Greece. We watched some YouTube videos using this bag along with a 10 Liter compression sack for lite travel. We absolutely LOVED this pack!We had room for everything we needed. Our kids (ages 9 & 11) were able to carry all of their own belongings. It was the perfect size and was considered a personal item on all of our our flights, both international and domestic. They have pockets for laptops, tablets, paperwork, toiletries, and the main compartment was plenty big when we also used an additional compression sack (purchased separately). We will keep traveling with these bags. Highly recommend.

HUGE High-Quality Backpack With An Unusual Design
I am a huge fan of Thule and own many products manufactured by that company. Until now, I never had the opportunity to compare my Thule backpacks and luggage to one of its primary competitors, Osprey. I'm excited to report that I was pleasantly surprised by the design, construction, and quality of each of the Osprey products I recently ordered. Similar to Thule, you know you are going to pay a premium when you purchase the Osprey brand, but the quality you receive is worth every penny. This backpack is such an unusual product. It is designed to offer great versatility. It can be used as either a luggage bag (similar to a duffle) or as a backpack. It has a 65L capacity, so it is large enough to pack a significant volume of items.PROS:(1) The versatility of this bag is unmatched. It can be packed to include enough essentials to last for several days, or even longer if you are an exceptionally light packer. It can also be converted to a backpack for your day trips, so you don't have to pack a separate backpack.(2) This is a reasonably weather-resistant backpack. I can truly feel safe carrying all of my electronics in this bag during severe weather. If I know I'm going to be spending a significant amount of time outdoors during my travels, this will be one of my go-to packs. (3) This backpack has a ton of storage space for all of your personal items. It is made to accommodate a 15" laptop, but I can fit my 17" (just not in the dedicated compartment). There are pockets and zippered compartments all over the place, so there is never a lack of a dedicated space for items that you might want to keep separated from others, such as electronics, wet clothing, or dirty shoes.(4) The materials used to construct this pack are all very durable and should last for years, with normal use.(5) I really like the quick access options. There is one small one for snacks or a cell phone and also a large side-access zipper to quickly access your larger items. (6) I am 5'4", 155 pounds. My husband is 6', 250 pounds. We both found this pack comfortable to wear. For those who suffer from back problems, this is a comfortable option.CONS:(1) The backpack is slightly too large to use as a carry-on if you are traveling by air. Many times, airlines don't actually measure backpacks, so you could possibly get away with it. However, you could also be forced to check the backpack at an additional cost if they do choose to measure it.(2) It does not include a removable bladder, which would be helpful for those who would like to use this as a hydration pack when hiking.Osprey really thought of just about everything when they made this product. Overall, you can put your trust in this Osprey backpack to offer a quality product at a competitive price.

The backplate on the Osprey Porter 65L buckles easily, causing discomfort
I bought the Osprey Porter 65L to take on a trip to Ireland. I am accustomed to disappearing into the woods with a backpack for a week at a time, but of course this bag is not made for that, and this was not a backpacking trip. This trip involved trains, planes, a rental car, and sleeping in B&Bs. For this reason, I did not have much use of the backpacking feature of this bag. However, on the way home I had a few hours to kill around Union Station in Chicago, so I did the riverwalk with this Osprey Porter 65 on my back. The back plate buckled almost immediately, pressing a sharp wedge across the small of my back. The pack was not heavy or full - it weighed about 25 pounds overall. The back plate of the Osprey Porter 65L is flimsy compared to camping backpacks that are a fraction of the weight of this bag. Unfortunately, though, it the back plate is substantial enough to cause discomfort when carrying this bag as a backpack. The buckling of the back plate in the Osprey Porter 65L would appear to be a design flaw, and a highly consequential one at that, insofar as the bag is pointless without the backpack functionality.
