Expect this to exceed expectations in high wind rain storms in New England.
This umbrella seems to be exactly what I was looking for, and then some. I tested the Open/Close as soon as it arrived, and then gave it as a gift since that is what it was for, but it needed to be good to get there. It snaps open strong, and complete, and instantly. Perfect, but the user best be aware and not open it prematurely exiting a car or perhaps in a crowd. It is strong and comfortable to hold. I expect it to perform awesomely once the rains and winds start here in N.E. Closing is not fully automatic. The canopy releases, then the extension shaft must be compressed, and then wrapped tight to fit back into the carrying case. All expected and perfectly normal. I do wish the case was was of a stronger material, as I expect that to tear soon. Getting the closed umbrella back in does require some jockeying. Maybe future versions of the case will allow the umbrella to be stored more easily? (Worth looking into.) Still, no dings for the case, they always seem to be lost or damaged anyway. Totally has met expectations so far. Live use in a storm will determine if I purchase more, but I am leaning that way already.

Exactly as advertised (for better or worse)
The product is as advertised: relatively compact umbrella that automatically opens, and looks reasonably well-constructed. It's also a bit heavy, as others have noted. Frankly, I don't need the auto-open feature, and I'd be happy to sacrifice the weight for a high-quality manual umbrella, but that proved difficult to find. I had never had an auto-close umbrella before, so I was disappointed to learn that all it does it collapse the last step: you still have to manually push it down. I suspect all auto-close features are the same: physics dictates that there would need to be a power source otherwise. Anyway, I got exactly what I ordered.

Really disappointed. Excellent, weather/wind proof umbrella which broke after only 90 days.
Really disappointed. Excellent, weather/wind proof umbrella which broke after only 90 days. Was looking forward to this umbrella with all the good reviews for what we refer to as the "monsoon" weather in our part of the country. In fact, during some very heavy storms the double canopy style proved to withstand the very strong wind gust and driving rain that I put it through. It did resist the wind pull better than non-double vented umbrella's I've had, but less than I hoped. Mostly kept the rain off in driving rain. No complaints. Happy with the performance and protection. So imagine my surprise when I was simple wrapping up the umbrella and putting it away on my backpack in a bungee holder when I heard a "crunch" sound and quickly found the stem completely disengaged from the umbrella top. Basically the top broke right off and now would no longer extend or was connected to even open. Now it was useless after only 90 days and with normal storing practices. Before I would say it was worth the normal than higher price, but not as a piece of junk after only a handful of uses.Would not buy or trust this brand again.

If only it would close...
I ordered for a trip and needed an umbrella that could handle the wind but light enough for travel. This was heavier than umbrellas twice the size, but figured it was a small drawback if the umbrella performed well. I was happy with the performance on a very windy and wet day in NY until I had to close it. It had a mind of its own whenever I tried to collapse it. The automatic close button would initially collapse, but then it took some wrestling to close and stay closed. I thought it was a one time occurrence, but it happened each time I used it. I threw it in the backseat thinking I closed it and it reopened a few minutes into my drive, scaring the heck out of me. After a week, I decided it wasn't worth the battle and returned it. I am giving it 3 stars because it is actually a substantial, well built umbrella and works for its purpose in windy conditions. If it wasn't for the flaw in closing, I would've kept it.

Top cap should not be plastic.
The first time I took the umbrella out of its sleeve to use it, it slipped out of my hand and hit the vinyl tile. The top cap broke in half. It is still attached but cracked. It should be made out of a more durable material like rubber, metal or silicon instead of plastic. The rest of the umbrella seems to be very well made. The small design flaw is a disappointment. I will most likely return it.

It's incredibly sturdy, keeps its form in a strong wind
A little larger than most compact umbrellas these days, both when fully deployed and when packed up for carrying purposes. This lends itself to a decent trade-off: a little more weight at your side, but a larger umbrella coverage when you need it. It's incredibly sturdy, keeps its form in a strong wind, and most importantly keeps my dry from belt to head. Not large enough to keep your legs dry in a good downpour, so look for something super-sized if you need to be pristinely dry.I really like the carry case which keeps the umbrella size manageable when not in use, and also has a nice strap handle to carry or hang it by. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a really GREAT compact umbrella but who doesn't need the absolute smallest or lightest item. The extra weight and size pays off in coverage and durability.

Very sturdy and meaty
Very sturdy and meaty. It is a bit on the heavier side, but not a big hassle to carry around, knowing it won't get destroyed by a gust of wind, or a heavy rainfall. The one-handed operation is a great treat. I am glad to have a good umbrella to carry around, from here on forward.

Nice for the size, but much smaller than expected...
I have a tendency to leave my nice Totes (xl hurricane) umbrellas eveywhere, or people steal them... Being a folding umbrella, this offered to be just right to put in my messenger bags. It was btw. It's also the right size for my bf's backpack, which gave him no excuse to not carry one. For myself, it's just not wide enough for maximum protection. If you're looking for a good norm-ish size umbrella, this is for you.If you use the xl golf-sized umbrellas, this is NOT for you. I plan to keep it in my bag as an emergency umbrella.
